Good evening fellas, As a result of a small wager with Dan B and Nemo on Saturday,I thought I would be able to put this build out in what was left of the weekend. That will not be the case, unfortunately,so guys next show the BB's and cawfee are on me!! ;D Anyway to the subject.....The Supermarine Spiteful was a development of the superb Spitfire,we all know and love.As early as 1942,Supermarine were concerned that the elliptical design of the Spitfire wings would not stand up to the stresses of high speed(Near Mach)that would be needed as the war progressed,so they came up with a design incorporating the superb Rolls Royce Griffon, and the basic wing profile of the P51 Mustangs, which appeared better suited to the stresses of higher speeds. This version, the F Mk14,was in fact the first production version, which made an appearance in late 1944,but never saw combat. With the advent of the Jet age, this and subsequent marks were shelved in favour of the Jets that were being developed at the time. There was going to be a Navy carrier version, known as the Seafang as well.
I'll show how far I managed to get,in the next post!...Hope you like! ;D

Onward and upward!!!!....I'll start with a few sprue shots, seeing as I took piccies... Unusually for a Trumpy kit,the parts count is low...only 80+ parts..... Anyway...as is the norm for a wingy build, one starts in the office.. Duly thrown together, and sealed away in the fuselage I then assembled the wings, with all attachments, aelerons, elevators and radiator cowlings I have to say, with hindsite I would fit the lower wing section(1 piece),and then add the 2 upper wing sections, just to make sure this wouldn't happen... It is not quite as bad on the other side ;D Bit more to come in a few minutes....

Robbo, yes mate....this is my weekend purchase....and Steve, welcome mate...but hopefully this won't be one of my epic sagas,it was supposed to be a quick build!!! Anyway, the next minor problem, which has slowed me down, was the lovely seam line in the main canopy......this took a new sharp blade, and the wifes nail polishing stick to rectify(Micro mesh can be used as well) Before... After..... looking at the pics,I may have another crack at this! Right we soldier on.....next up is the complete airframe, with its tail feathers on.. Whilst I was assembling the undercrackers, and cleaning up the wheel assemblies, one of the wheels shot off into the ether,so Airfix to the rescue... Loaded wheels from my Seafire kit, close enough to the kit ones, that only serious RC's would notice the difference!!(And we don't have any on this site!! )and I've still got the correct wheels for the Seafire... That's where I'm at now,I could have risked rattle can primer between showers today...but popped up the pub instead!

Nice work CB, and some nice introduction as well...never knew about this birdie... a bit odd to see a Spit with non elliptical wings, but nevertheless it's a beauty!
Cheers

Robbo,Todd,Chris67,thanks for joining in fellas ;D....Prof,Dan and Dickie...sorry lads,I tried me best to get her done quickly, but what the heck! Wouts,I have to admit, this wingy was a new one on me as well when I saw it,so I did a bit of Googling ;D Well...the 'Spitang' has had a coat of white primer, which has shown up a couple of minor faults I'll have to sort with some Tippex. No piccies, everyone has seen primer before!! Dicky,If I can source another Mustang, and another Spit,I might need your help with a bit of 'Kitbashing,to make a 'Mustfire'! ;D

Boo,Dan,Boss, and Martyn....thanks for the good comments....much appreciated gentlemen Robbo...yer right mate rattlecan Tammy TS12 Bare metal silver... Steve....as far as I can make out, this would have been NMF,like the late PR,and post war Spits?? Neems....most 'birds' look better with their clothes on!! Prof....I know you like shiny ,that's one of the reasons I did her in BMS... Anyway...main reason I'm here...put some make up on the ole girl, the Anti glare panel, and ALL 13 decs....jeez,that was taxing! Still got to sort the walkways, and a new tail wheel...broke that off, after the piccies last nite!! Her undercrackers are done,as is the canopy, but the spinner still needs work Thats all folks, for now...
