Sometime ago I asked the question(s);
- What's your favorite build
- What's your ultimate build
There was some very cool responses...... SO, I thought I'd ask what is or was your worst build ever.....you know that kit that was or is a steaming pile of "you know what"......
For me it will always be the ESCI 1/35th scale version a sorry product from the mid 1970's of the German Demag 1 ton half track. With a very close second being ESCI 1/35th scale Nebelwerfer, (smoke unit).
Now I've been building since I was six or seven years old..... I've built, Renwal, Frog, Monogram, ESCI, Tamiya, Heller, and just abooot every other major manufacturer you can think of prior to the 2000's. I even built a couple of Schmidt/Hobbybau Vac-u-forms'. And from that experience I have to say that these two kits were the worst of the worst....... The Demag, was warped, most parts had ZERO location indicators, MASSIVE mold knock out marks, instruction sheets that might as well have been written in Farsi and FLASH from hell. The Nebelwerfer was a nightmare of epic proportions, from the original two piece tubes, to the stinking wiring harnesses. And the real cherry on the top was those figures...... I still have modeling nightmares from that kit......
It could have been a bad kit from the production run that QC missed..... It could have been I was a novice modeler at the time, it could very well been that I was spoiled by Tamyia's early kits and their great direction sheets... Probably these factors played a big part....BUT not as big of part to hid that these kits STUNK, STANK, STINK.
Just wondering what y'all think

Both of those left me frustrated and out of pocket when I tried to build them as a teenager - I think I've still got parts from the Nebelwerfer in one of my spares boxes Although I haven't built them, and may never do now that both Hobby Boss and Mirror Models sell them, worst kit ever in my opinion has got to be the AER Moldova T-20 (also sold by Eastern Express, MSD Maquette - but they're all using the the same moulds) Flash from hell on Esci kits? You ain't seen nothing yet! Brace yourselves, sick-bags at the ready: Fine attachment points and highly detailed parts galore : If all that wasn't bad enough, the kit is also dimensionally wrong and yes, I have two of them and a ZIS-30... A close second is the ARK/Eastern Express/MSD Maquette ZIS-5/6 because of the faulty moulds for the steering linkage: With a fine saw and a copious supply of swear words it is doable, but I'd really rather not repeat the experience, despite having at least one more in my stash - might be two, but, for the sake of my blood-pressure I try not to look too closely.

My worst kit ever ? Mirror Models 1/35 CMP C15A Chevrolet Water Tank Lorry ! Why ? The resin parts in the kit suck as they don't have sharp detail, they're extremely fragile (they break by just looking at them !) and they don't fit. There's not much plastic parts. I payed too much for this garbage kit too ! Oh yeah almost forgot this, the instructions were put on a disk ! I'm old school so give me a goddamn instructions manual so I can make notes ! Voila Mirror Models, my revenge !

My worst kit ever was the first generation Dragon Nashorn! I had been building for 20 years when I was given this kit AND $20.00! The "gift" giver said the $20.00 was for adult beverages. Wow, I thought this is a Asian kit, it can't be that bad! Boy, was I wrong, warped parts, oval tubes, ko pins from hades, 1/8 in. gaps, etc. IIRC, I burned the kit in my back yard, Joel.
