Denis,
You do a lot of figure painting. This was my first figure larger than 1/35.
What do you hate about it? What would you have painted differently?
It's oil over a base of airbrushed Tamiya.

Hi John!
You made there a successful and good looking conversion. Don't worry with the paint, your practice will become better. As I'm not working with the oils, I can't tell you anything, but I like a lot the light effects on the face. Have fun and come back with other nice projects! Cheers, Nicolae

Hello John I do not hate this as you have done a good job on your first large scale conversion/figure. I Like Nicolae like the face and the way you have tackled it. I am going to suggest, and you have probably realised this yourself that tighter definition is required with clothing shading, especially along the seam lines. I find that tackling the seam lines first allows me to work out the the right shading ratios for my highlights and shadows, I aways imagine the models is illuminated from above (zenithal). Remember John that highlights and shadows have different depths and intensities. I hope to see more large scale conversions from you John, because your off to a good start

Thanks, Dennis. I wouldn't have though to begin at the seams. I think I just need to look at more large figures during my next show. It's often the case that a single well painted example can provide a lot of answers.

Hi John, the seams give you a small area to work out your HL and shadow colours that are easier to correct that a large area on the shoulders say. I hope at your next show you can fin some inspiring large scale figures and get a chance to chat to the painters, I am in the middle of completing my second 120mm figure, I think they are far more challenging than say a 54mm/1/35th figure as your mistakes are magnified. Good luck and happy modelling.
