Great work Gil. What did you use for the vegetation on the T34 dio.

Thanks all, and Wes, I used a 12mm floral mat material I got from Scenic Express. It is a rolled mat that comes in different colored flowering meadows. One can roll it out and install or, do as I did, and pull it apart in pieces to more randomize the grasses/flowers. They aren't cheap ($35.00) plus shipping, but can cover many projects. I took a chance with this material and the results were better than I expected. Others in my model club plan to purchase a different color and I plan to trade pieces so we both have a variety for the same cost.

That seascape on the destroyer model is amazing!
How long did it take you to do that?
Would you mind giving a brief description of how you did it, I'm especially interested in the color which looks lifelike.

Chrome, the technique is actually quite easy. You check out the build thread in the ship section for more WIP pics. But in summary: I first attached the ship to the base then molded the swells with celluclay around the ship. This was followed by a a coating of thick acrylic gel medium which added to the shape of the crests. Next, I painted the aforementioned with craft paint in pheno blues and greens. The froth and splashes in white were created with pulled cotton fibers embedded into and on top of the swells with the use of Future floor polish or some thinner AGM. When completed, the water was brushed with Future. Overall this took a few hours over a few sittings.

Some lovely builds there. Really nice job on the ship and water effects and the T-34 dio is really nice.

I'm really really impressed by that build...the seascape is just spectacular. If I was a judge in a contest, I would give it 1st place.

Interestingly, I just entered it in our annual show and it placed third. That is all you need to know about the quality of the ship entries there this year.
