Cheers Dan. Now the engine is heading towards completion, I can crack on with the frame....well, repair it at least!

Hello Dicky, thanks fella, hope Scotland is / was treating you well? Moved onto the frame and had an early disaster with it. Being a four cylinder bike it has four ignition coils, two sit inside the top of the frame, one on the upper outside left of the frame and the final one is molded as part of the frame bottom right. The latter one is the problem, broke it clean off! Add insult to injury I then broke off of the broken part the location point for the HT lead so all in all not a marvellous start. Then, broke the brake cylinder off the back....aaaargh! So, much gluing, removing, cursing and re-gluing too place followed by drilling a tiny hole in the broken coil to locate the HT lead. Shiny silver bit at the bottom is the offending article... One done, I popped the engine in which is best described as a 'snug' fit, four screws keep it safely in place. Next is the cooling system...

Hello chaps, thank you all and a welcome to You Randy, enjoy the forum. Ok, cooling system installed. An odd setup, it threads through the frame and also incorporates an additional cooler slung underneath. Pics show it installed, paint needs tidying now its all in place. Tamiya Nato Black is about the best I know for doing cooling hoses. Cheers!

Very nice build prof I too use Nato Black to achieve a "rubberish" finish.

Cheers Luigi! Yes, I have tried other things but I still come back to Nato Black although Vallejo Tyre Black is pretty good.

More great work there Prof - neat as a button matey! The Lifecolour Shades of Black are worth a look too guys - the 'burned rubber' is brilliant to brush with and gives a fantastic rubber finish - I used it on the T62 rubber floor mats and it's available separately too The black set from lifecolor are way up on my wishlist... I've seen the results on some of my friends works and they are nice.

We're cool thanks Boots, another six weeks and it's pretty much sorted. Things have been progressing in my abscence, the instruments and bars are in place. Then the laborious task of painting and decaling the wheels and brake discs, the discs are one piece on this kit which is a pain. And finally the swing arm. Plenty of challenges here due to the way the suspension and swing arm are assembled making painting a lot more difficult than it would be on one of Tamiya's newer kits. Should be a bit more tomorrow, thanks for following...

You're very kind guys, thank you. It all needs the paint tidied up but its getting there! Had to pull tomorrows update forward due to unforseen circumstances. Swing arm united with the wheel and installed. A bit fiddly to get to locate but with a bit of perseverence... Forks are to say the least basic, single part and showing their age so the only answer is to slap some colour on and hope for the best! And installed along with some of the parts I prefer to leave off until the majority of the manhandling is behind me. As I say, paint needs tidying but it's all up together now, paddock stand needs painting and decals need adding.

Sharp work Prof this is looking sweet good buddy, however I have spotted a problem the speedometre reads 0mph shouldn't it read 140mph as most bikers don't really go any slower than that!? Martyn

Hello chaps, as always, your kind words are very much appreciated.
Dicky, It's an odd shape when its undressed and I can't say I like it much, looking forward to getting the bodywork in place. Seeing as I appear to be doing one show a year I reckon we should be ok for next April...if I get my finger out :-)
Next up is the exhaust system, all four pipes!

Hey Boots, thanks fella, it's ok I guess, so pleased most of the other bike kits I have are quite a bit newer than this one! As for the exhausts, I'm undecided at present mate. Two pipes are almost totally hidden while two are on full view, I have some other paint I am keen to try so it might result in a bit of experimenting on this build... Re the exhausts, here they are, assembled and laid up in primer. A few imperfections to sort but either way, should look fine under paint. While I fiddle with them, the bodywork received four coats of the Telefonica Blue colour coat. Pic of it part way through the process, it's gone on fairly well actually. Right, that's it for now, Prof and the rest of the Profs fly out to the Greek Islands shortly so will catch you on my return, be good...
