Hi everyone and Happy New Year! I started a new project, a little exotic. The bust, in resin, is excellent casted, sculpted by Olivier Bouchet, the boxart is made by Balasz Schuller, the owner of the Black Army Models. You can see here more details: www.blackarmymodells.com/w-i-p-from-bams-workbench/aboriginal-is-finished/As usually, acryllics (Vallejo), Leonardo da Vinci and Winsor and Newton brushes, a wet palette. For the skin tones, I used the etnhnic skintones (Vallejo codes) offered by coolminiornot: www.coolminiornot.com/articles/1310-ethnic-skintones. I didn't have Cavalry Brown and Ligh Skin but wasn't big problem for me. You'll see I add to my palette, some Black, Medium Blue and Flat Red (very strong, so be carefull, not too much!). Here is what I did untill now: Cheers, Nicolae

An Nou Fericit to you too! Looking good! Makes a nice change from the more 'run of the mill' bust subjects!

Very nice work Nic, always a bigger challenge when dealing with the darker tones, almost like working in reverse!

Warm thanks, my friends, glad you like the project. Bill, I'm still looking how to arrive to a more reddish tone, maybe some filters. I'll be keeping playing and learning! HAVE A WONDERFULL 2017 YEAR! Nicolae

WHOA! What a great start. I would never have thought about using silver for primer! Can't wait to see more...

Hi Andy!
I didn't use any silver as primer. I always work with a Black Primer from Vallejo. In this case, an Aborigen with darker red skintone, no way. What you see in the photo with the bust "primerized" is due to the reflections of my lamps. For the hair I made an wash with Black (70 % Water, 30% Black), put in every hole, then I came with tone of grey (Medium Grey, Light Grey), I add some Medium Blue, extreme lights with Light Grey with more White. That's all, no Silver at all, anywhere! Have a fine 2017 year! Nicolae

COOL! They sure look like silver in the picture. Funny how images can fool you... I usually prime my builds black too.

John, Dennis, thanks a lot! Dennis, me too, when I decide to attack this subject, Crocodile Dundee was the first thing coming in my mind. Some good year to you, buddies! Nicoale
