Man, an entire week? I'm going to need to step on it if this is the pace I'm setting for '17! First up - ordinance. A lot of times (for me, at least) this stuff gets done as an afterthought at the end of the build when I'm already tired of it and ready to move on...figured I'd better get it out of the way first. Also a good opportunity to test my choice of paint for the underside color on the pylons. All Trumpeter parts to replace the Revell pieces. Also banged out the resin FOD covers and landing gear. The FODs got bent-brass grabhandles added, otherwise just out of the package. Landing gear coulda/shoulda been replaced with SAC stuff, but it doesn't look toooooo bad. I'm going to need to adjust the white balance on my camera, I think - very wonky in this shot for some reason. After that stuff was done, I moved on to relocating the holes for the pylons. Trumpeter's stuff is sized slightly differently, and has the pins in different places, so I had to mount the ordinance and figure out where they should be in relation to the wing. Everything fits nice and tight, ready to snap in when the airframe is painted.

With the plethora of AM for this build, may I suggest you also replace the static dischargers on the wings with turned brass from Master Model Poland? Pitot tube is also available I'd certainly look into them - at this point it's a matter of how quickly I could get them here. Can you check your link? I think it's redirecting back to this page.

Looks good but you'll never hit the 40s with week long breaks, I know, right? I knew that one of these years when my collection of shelf queens started to dwindle and I started tackling some of my bigger projects that my production numbers would drop off...Unless I can offset with some smaller, faster builds. Still got 11.5 months, I can catch up!

Data dump time! Very productive past couple of days. First up - the cockpit. Final shots before she gets covered up for good. HUD and a bit of weathering applied, ejection seat permanently affixed. All the horizontal bits have been attached - the vertical stabilizers fit well enough that I'm going to attempt to leave them loose until after all of the painting and weathering. Will make that phase MUCH easier. Canopy masked. Cockpit interior color sprayed onto the clear parts. Did the heat-proof sections and exhaust cans while I was spraying some other metals. My white balance is still jacked up, because these three sections look quite distinct from one another when viewed in person. Base coat! Decided to try some Mr. Paint. So far I like this stuff a lot (for not actually being an acrylic). Man that was a long spray session. First camo color - Tamiya sprayed freehand to match the decal sheet. Second camo color - same deal. More Tamiya...my go-to for this sort of thing. Got to mask off all of the RWR panels and a couple of bare metal parts...then it's on to the decaling!

Very nice progress indeed Dupes. The metallics can be a bit tricky to photograph at time.

Thanks dudes! Bit more work done this evening - masking and painting all of the different panels (RWRs,NMF bits, the antiglare panel up front). Hoping to dip a few decals before I pass out tonight. More tomorrow!

Did I say a few decals? I meant all of the decals! Luckily the Ukrainian birds aren't festooned with stencils, so I was able to get the ~20 stickers attached, sol'd, and clear coated.

Getting down to the wire! Didn't want to take the time to move the whole operation downstairs to take a pic, so you're getting the upstairs bench "in situ" version. Heh. Lengthy panel line wash process completed - time to attach allllllll of the loose parts that have to go on. Landing gear, wheels, gear doors, pylons, ordinance, clear bits, etc. etc. etc. Still might make it in time for the January MoM!

That paint job looks sweet. I'm not a fan of Russian planes but I have to say that the Fulcrum is a very sleek and sexy looking jet.
Some of the older Revell and Monogram models are actually pretty good and need some tlc as you are doing with yours. Looks great!

A lot of times they're (still) the only game in town! Although that's slowly changing. Trumpeter keeps threatening to release a new-tooled Fulcrum A and UB... wouldn't that be nice!

Thanks Leon!
So I sorta/kinda snapped the nose off of the model trying to attach some other bits. Wasn't a big deal to fix, but it set me back enough that this beast won't be done until tomorrow some time. February MoM ho!
