No kidding about anti-slip being rougher! I saw the Merkavas at a tank museum in Germany and they were like big pebbles!!! Let me find the pic...

Good pics, and yes, Merks are BIG. So my wash, using oils and white spirit, went way wrong, lifted a lot of my very well-cured base coat, and on top of the\at (or technically speaking, "under" that) my clear gloss was very pebbly, thinking the can lost a lot of propellant, so I'm scratching my head now, wondering whether or not to try and strip it all off or blunder on ahead. Rats.

I'm blundering on. I decanted some of the base coat and fixed the boo-boos with a brush, then re-did the wash, making sure to clean up the excess quickly, and it came out okay. Also, I was still having issues with the tracks not fitting the drive sprocket, so I dug out some Merk1 tracks which seem to fit better, and went with them. I have other things to deal with than whether or not the track links have two lightening holes, and I do have pics of these things with the Merk1 tracks, just not as common. Anyway, P-bucket let me load some pics today, here it is so far:

Thanks Leon. I need to pick up some more clear flat, and after that I can do a very light application of pastels to unify things, and that should wrap this one up.

Thanks all! I may go back to the M47, of something completely different (think: big, ugly and 4BO), just not sure. I need something simple, still! Anyway, clear flat is on, some more detail painting, although aside from the shovel and a couple of bits this thing is astonishingly monochromatic. And just for kicks, I finished the Merkava4 I shelved last year, I'll get a pic or two of that up later. But for now, here's the current state of the Magach:

Thanks, Leon. I just felt that I had too many loose ends, know what I mean?
