Back onto the QLs again,...... This may not look like a finished kit to many of you, but to me this is very much finished and ready to be sent for production..... For those not following the QL log they are here modelerssocialclub.proboards.com/thread/11287/scale-bedford-lots-no13-finished..... This time a 1/72 scale kit for Wee Friends Models of a Bedford QLT troop carrier.....  A side by side with the 1/76 Airfix QLT I already built during a test fit for my kit.....  ATB Sean |

Is it me or does the Airfix kit slope downhill at the back?? Yarp, It appears to be a current trend with Airfix just lately that there is a requirement to make all truck models look like they have about 12 metric tons in the back, with squashed tyres and the like..... funnily they weren't far wrong with the QLT Trooper as the back 3 foot used to droop with excessive, hard, use, earning it the nick name of 'Drooper', thing is they've done it by compressing the rear suspension which is wrong and I've corrected, on my kit I haven't modeled in the droop either as that requires bending and buckling the body sides and I wasn't prepared to do that. Their Bedford MW 9.00 x 16 tyres are even worse, the tyres look like the truck is carrying 12 tons, the tyre side wall is only wafer thin and there is no air in the tyres either, now I know this to be totally wrong as I used to have 9.00 x 16 tyres on my Landrover trialer that used to run around 10psi in them and they would barely squash even with a 2 ton truck sat on them, plus all reference photos show them fully inflated even when quite heavily laden so I'm unsure where Airfix got their ideas for a tyre to be that squashed from  ..... Anyhoo, I'm down to make a set that corrects this issue in the very near future ATB Sean |
