Amazing! Can't wait to see it painted... your close, right? Pretty close, just a few bits on the hull, then the turret and it's time to hose it.

Thanks. I'm no professional photographer either, that's for sure. Pics from today: IMG_0441 by Russel Baer, on Flickr IMG_0440 by Russel Baer, on Flickr IMG_0439 by Russel Baer, on Flickr IMG_0438 by Russel Baer, on Flickr I added some detail on the cut off fenders, drain holes on the hull for the turret ring, and then got into the turret, which is about 80% done. I lost the inside handle for the commander's hatch, so I'll most likely close that one, loader's hatch is workable so I have the option of leaving it open. Quite a few pics show it open or partially open, with the TC hatch closed..... hmmmm.

Thanks gents. I'm a bit torn here about the follow-up painting, whether or not to try oil dots and rick effing it up of to stay with acrylics. Hmmm....

I love oils for weathering, so my choice would be them then.

Dierk, I agree. So, in order to not mess this one up like I did the Magach7 I just shelved, I experimented first: IMG_0448 by Russel Baer, on Flickr Pictured above is most of a Dragon (Zvezda?) T-72, painted the same Krylon green as the IS, with a bunch of oils and different amounts of white spirit used to blend them. Once I knew how much thinner the paint would tolerate before lifting, I did the IS turret: IMG_0450 by Russel Baer, on Flickr The difference is quite pronounced now, with the turret looking almost too light and bright, which I'm okay with as I have yet to apply any kind of detail wash. And the hull: IMG_0453 by Russel Baer, on Flickr In reality, I'm doing more of a "dry brushing/mapping"thing with oils rather than a "dot filter" thing, I think, using an absolute minimum of white spirit, but I like it so far. And yes, that's a T-72 hull in the background, something I did (mostly) while I was waiting for the test coat on the Dragon hull top to dry. Really.
