Hello all, As promised here is the finished 54mm metal figure from Andrea Miniatures. I t is from their General Series and is sold as a Air Cavalry Officer, but it bears an uncanny resemblance to Robert Duvall the famous American actor in his role as Lt. Col Bill Kilgore from the 1978 film Apocalypse Now; so I painted him as such. I used my usual array of acrylic paint Andrea, Vallejo and Scale 75. The model posed no real problems to paint even the photo etched parts: stetson brim, sunglasses and cavalry crossed swords badge behaved themselves and were a pleasure to paint. The fun came when when I researched the props used, i.e the stetson and the surf board. there was a large 6 month gap in the filming and it appears that Kilgores hat changed in that time, nothing drastic; badge feather etc. Doing my research I did find that Kilgore had his own Surfboard (which the PBR crew stole). This was supposed to be a 8.6 inch Yater Spoon, but the props department in the Phillipines rigged up another board to look like the Yater. The surfboard theft only appears in the extended version of the film. Anyway I cobbled together a piece of plasticard and put some signs on it Airborne etc. I am waiting for a club mate to make me the decals (still waiting) as soon as I can I will replace the signs with the decals. This was a fun fun project to work on despite having to watch the film again, the best bits are the Air Cav and the PBR passing the downed B52. Thanks for popping by. Dennis.

Thanks everyone, it was great fun to complete this model (and I still haven't got those decals). I will be back soon with a 75mm USMC First Sgt 1859. Thanks again Dennis
