Had a great time at the show, here are some pictures... I'm sure that I didn't get half of the models that were there... WOW, what a great show... Had a great time catching up with old friends (and new ones). I even managed to get 2 second place ribbons, 1 third place ribbon and 1 Out Of the Box (OOB) ribbon. And for those of you that know me and know I enjoy the raffle the most. Yes a did well there too. 54 raffle winners (and three of them were the large hourly winners). I also bought a bunch of stuff from the venders, so all in all it was a great day. I will post another batch of pictures for your enjoyment.

Thank god..... IPMS Seattle is the rankest bunch of penlight , dental mirror jack-tards modeling has ever known. How they can draw members should really be a subject for Ripley's Believe it or not............................. And before anyone says peep one, I have first hand knowledge, WAS a member and have seen this group of nincompoops for some 20 years..... SORRY to be that guy, but I will call a Spade a spade and be damned for it. Besides the truth is in the fricking pudding

Not sure how thus site feels about " zombie threads" however panzerjeager your critque is spot on...even 6yrs later. There was an announcement about the show on 29April 2023 over on FSM. Replied that a few members from Spokane " Aces Wild" IPMS would be attending and thanked them.....friggen not even a " hey great see ya there" just crickets. Seems we are not worthy to rub elbows with that crowd. Allegedly one of our members won handsomely at a contest many years ago, when they found out he was not " local" they asked him not to return. Snobs!! Still going just to piss them off.

Likely both are similar and it is a post and run sort of thing. There are no other posters at all. I don't think it is any form of a snub since there is no discussion to be left out of. If he was a regular and there was no reply I could see your frustration but we have to remember that not everybody hangs out as regular as some of us. He may not show back up until next year when time to announce the meet again.

Good point, an open invite is better than none at all. I personally have no reason to have an issue, my money spend the same. I may enter something but as always if I winn COOL if not meh, atleast someone besides my wife saw the final product. My apologies for ruffling feathers.

Didn't ruffle my feathers since that is on the other side of the continent for me! Although I do get out that way every couple of years. I am entering some models in my very first show this Sunday. I have never even gone to one before so this will be a new experience.

Good luck buddy! Even if you don't win anything it's nice that others see your work. This is what is at the venue so even if there are no models the price of admission is worth it. www.warplane.com/aircraft/collection.aspx

I went to IPMS Seattle back in 2012, my first and last for IPMS. My impression, good 'ol boys club. If you're a vender and have entries you're a shoe-in. Car guys judging tanks and dios, hmmmm. I know, I know, there's never enough judges, but really?
I did take a few wins, but it was not what I had imagined a contest should be. Glad I don't live in Seattle, I'd avoid it!
Good luck Tcoat, ruck On!

Good luck Tcoat, ruck On! I totally agree with STEVE on all the Good ole boys thing and panzerjager too,for sure. I didn't go this year and probably won't go again. I live roughly 25 miles from the Renton Rec center and it is now the closest(to me) show up here for me know. I've been to all their shows for the last 15 years up to 2019. COVID killed a lot of the CAR shows here. Then you add in the UNFAIR JUDGING, and that keeps a lot of people away. But the military, plane', ship and dio folks have really good attendence. I am a member of IPMS Nationally and belong to NO locale Chapter. There are some good people in the Tacoma and Seattle chapters. But it's like panzer stated,it's a good ole boys gig. I didn't even go to the show at the Museum of flight and it's not a judged show. Don't get me wrong here. Contests can be a very good and rewarding thing..if judged correctly. Having a set of 70 yr old guys with a magnifying glass to judge...is not right.
JUST SAY'IN....

I didn't enter anything...1 had nothing really I wanted to show...2 I know what the system is like and really don't care. My brother entered 5 models in their modified* catagory as he didn't scratchbuild the kit just a bunch of stuff on it. There was a total of 8 entries in that catagory, havard a guess on how well he did??? Not a single entry in that catagory even PLACED. How does that work when every other catagory had 1st-3rd ribbons PLUS judges " Honorable Mention". All 8 entries were well done so it was nkt a pile of glue bombs. I don't know, I might take my chances next year, probably won't, even if I didn't have a hat in the ring something seems hokie.

Man...I hear you on the Category Judging thing. I don't think they have a CLUE what the heck they're doing. I saw that very thing there a few yrs back, and, at the IMPS Nationals in Phoenix a few yrs back. The one National show that was judge fair was the one that was held in Colorado. That was a good one. But...all Nationals are 4 days long and I think that is way too long.

Best show I participate in sometimes is " Show off the Good Stuff" in Moscow Idaho. Very fair judging, small show but not a " good ol' boy club" . I alwaysvtry to take a fresh build and am satisfied and sometimes shocked, in a good way, with my results. MAY take simething to the Nats this year however just putting something on the table would make me happy.

I gave up entering comps years ago, not because I couldn't win anything, (in fact I had some very significant wins), but judging issues and club politics killed my interest. Now I just go to look, admire and spend money on things that I don't really need....... But I want!!

I have gone to contests for many years. I have brought 4 or 5 models each time and told the guys in the club that mine weren't going to win anything. I just bring them to have them there to have something to talk about. If one does actually win, great. If they don't, so what. I meet old friends, make new ones and have a great time. I usually buy 12 raffle tickets for $5. One time I actually won on 7 of them.
I used to bring my sailing ships and up until a couple of years ago the judges just walked past them. Now they stop and look but not seriously. Doesn't bother me a bit. One time. one of the members of the club picked up 3 medals I won. I didn't even hear my name called out, I was too busy talking with an old friend from Vermont who I see at the same show every year. Our club stops some place for breakfast, drives to the show. After the show we stop for dinner on the road. About 3 or 4 times a year it's a day out with friends with no hassels. Except for the time we bought or won so many models that the guys in the back seat had models on their laps because the trunk was full. Great day.
I'll still go to any show that is within 2 to 3 hours drive. I'll still bring models that I think won't be laughed at (unless it's a "Humor in Modeling" ).
Stay safe. Jim

If I want to compete I have to go to the West side and hope for a miracle, if I build a German vehicle my brother picks it apart and would be completely butthurt if I won with my OOB kit over his reworked super detailed shown many times 1975 Stug 4. Kinda takes the fun out of it. I do get my satifaction however, I'll build some modern Russian vehicle he knows nothing about....don't always win but feelies stay intact. Still trying on figureing out how to get to Madison for the Nats this year, it's about a 2 1/2 day drive, or a 3hr flight from Spokane...with a 6hr layover in Caracus LOL, plus dialysis...guess I better get to planning.
