Here are some more progress pics of the camo. This camo scheme is unique in that the dark green part of the splinter pattern was over sprayed in the field with RLM02 gray. This was an innovative technique tried by the Germans at the time in the Battle of Britain to mute the starkness of the original pattern. I have seen other examples created of this scheme and it seems that most builders just paint the RLM02 in a solid color where the dark green would be. I decided to do it as it would have been quickly applied in the field. Doing it this way would mimic, I think, the tonal difference of the RLM02 when painted over this dark color. I started by painting the lighter green then masking and painting the darker green splinter scheme. This was then lightly over sprayed with the RLM02. Finally, the mottling of the lt blue fuselage sides and vertical stabilizers with the light green and RLM02. Light green painted and splinter scheme masked Dark green applied RLM02 0versprayed Resulting effect Mottling applied as well Notice the color variation of the RLM02 over the dark green. It takes on more of a darker gray hue.

Really nice work...wasn't it supposed to be done for the show this weekend? Oh, and who's RLM 02 are you using? I have a bit of a study going on with every RLM 02 I can get my hands on to see how many different shades manufacturers come up with.

Thanks guys and yes Dupes, it was supposed to be finished by the past weekend but I went on vacation from the third until the 12th so what I posted was finished just before then. I used Model Master RLM02 as well as the RLM70, 71, and I believe 78 lt blue. All enamels. I actually forgot how much easier they are to spray consistent detail in the mottling patterns because of their working time as opposed to acrylics which I have been using more of.

That is a beautiful finish! Eduard kits certainly are not for neophytes.
