As a follow on from the fighter pod project we are now casting up these bad boys for release in August. I am pretty happy with how they are turning out especially now that we have switched to Smooth-Cast 310 over the cruddy five minute stuff I was using. Enjoy the pics and when I get a chance I'll post up some images of the kits all built up. Cheers, Brett

Lookin good! What would the cost be? Yes. That! What do you estimate the cost? Estimated scale and do you have one mostly assembled as a photo reference?

G'day guys, there are going to be four versions of this (five really if you count the cockpit version) all in 1/72 scale. That said these are big kits as the Zentreadi are 10 times bigger that the puny earthlings so they stand about 250mm (10 inches tall) and come with full colour instructions and decals. Prices in AUD (plus shipping) are $159 for the Scout, Light Missile, Heavy Missile and Standard Regult with full cockpit, and $132 for the standard without cockpit. The below pic is my almost completed scout: And here are some images provided by the original sculptor John Moscato: Cheers, Brett

I might seriously consider the one with the cockpit. If we were to pair the robot with a normally proportioned human, what scale figure would we consider, 1/20, 1/18? Essentially, how tall would the Centradi pilot be if he were standing on my workbench waiting to be painted?

Just looking at the castings you have now, does it seem as if it would be easy or hard to run a wire up through the legs into the cabin? I'm more than happy to drill parts. But does it look like the knee or hip joints would be badly affected?

Just looking at the castings you have now, does it seem as if it would be easy or hard to run a wire up through the legs into the cabin? I'm more than happy to drill parts. But does it look like the knee or hip joints would be badly affected? So that you can light it up? I could cast a run of wire in the leg for you or maybe a steyrene tube if you like. I haven't done that before but shouldn't be hard. I have been considering casting all of the cockpit parts in clear for ease of lighting as am option as I haven't started casting those parts yet. What are your thoughts on that? Here are the comparative pics you asked for - the little tan guy in the images is a ground crewman from the Italeri 1/72 set and a picture of the 1/72 scale Fighter Pod kit cockpit and pilot next to the cockpit section of a 1/72 Hasegawa VF-1A Valkyrie ( I like to call this shot "my cockpit is bigger than yours").

Thanks Kit,
Don't worry too much about trying to cast things into the resin during the mold. Doing so could be good or bad depending on how I might want to pose the final scene. The big question which comes up with modifications like these is in how much such a change will weaken or alter a joint, will we need to make additions to prevent the thing falling over with the slightest bump.
I quite like the idea of casting the cockpit sections is clear. Doing it this way allows for a wide variety of lighting options.

The kit is a little unbalanced because of the design but is actually quite stable once the hip jount are pinned and glued. As long as any channels drilled in were thin you should be fine as the resin is quite strong. Otherwise a small battery pack could b hidden in or on top the cockpit as tge top turret a bit of room in it for a button battery. Cheers, Brett

Does anyone know why we get those photobucket images every time you quote someone? It is really annoying. Just thought I would post up some more picture of the kits mocked up for the assembly instructions and a sample of the Recce version instruction: Cheers, Brett
