I have been struggling to get a Mack off the bench this year. The first try was massacred by the four year old grandson and the second was such a piece of garbage it went into the spares box. Here's the third try 001 by Mark Hartig, on Flickr 002 by Mark Hartig, on Flickr The kit supplied tie rod 002 by Mark Hartig, on Flickr In primer 001 by Mark Hartig, on Flickr Three's a charm, yes? Thanks gents Some color on the coachwork 001 by Mark Hartig, on Flickr Gonna try for the used look on this one but I'm not quite certain how to go about it; it's not a tank after all. Gonna have to play with some shelf items it seems Regards, Mark

I imagine it wouldn't be too hard to fade the red as a start Mark, beyond that I suppose it's up to you on how much wear and tear you really want to inflict on it.

Thanks gents Bill I suppose not but I've never applied a light red filter before somehow it just seems wrong to think about Joe welcome plenty of time and room Did I mention the molding and the fit are ghastly on this kit? Lots of file and sandpaper time needed with this. Here's the frame base painted with brake lines done and mill dry fit 001 by Mark Hartig, on Flickr 002 by Mark Hartig, on Flickr 003 by Mark Hartig, on Flickr The mill turned out OK but I think it could be better. Another black filter and some more muck ought to do it Regards, Mark

You've discovered another curse of the 'letter' kits...but looks like you're beating it into shape! Something to consider with paint/weathering the red finish, you could go with some orange tints/shades as well depending to create some variation instead of just a straight-up lightened red to avoid it turning 'pink' on you!

Thanks guys Bill not a bad idea I'll try this on a scrap cab Two coats of light grey filter with tires on. Mill still dry fit as I need to drill all the holes for the plumbing yet to come 001 by Mark Hartig, on Flickr Awful molding (have I said that yet?) that takes a lot of time to correct. Regards, Mark

Looks good so far Mark. A light wash on that engine like you were talking about outta turn it into a dark gray which there were a number of engines in these painted as such.

Since it's only been three and a half years since I started this I figured an update was due...the truck is finished and base in progress A very challenging kit for a slew of reasons as I've stated many times in the past Regards, Mark

Thanks gents Tobi the child is now old enough to understand cause and effect, and he also remembers what happened last time so I do not forsee any difficulties this time Base A couple more hours on figures and this one'll be history Regards, Mark

First off that looks dang good for all the trouble that it seemed to give you. Secondly, our son never did play with any of my kits but we had a neighbors 2 year old that wanted to. That kid was and still is on fire. He's literally all over the place. When he started over towards the room all I had to say out loud was that he needed to stay out of there because of the scalpel blades that were in there. That's all his mom needed to hear and she took care of the rest. lol

Done. Figures are a to me new offering from ICM, the acquisition of which inspired me to get this mess off the shelf. Painting 1/25 figures after working mostly in 1/35 was different...thought it'd be easier but it was not. Faces still bedevil me. Anyway, this one's a wrap Regards, Mark

This looks just great Mark! I've always shied away from figures. I'm going to have to try one someday.
