I've now got two going at once with the theory that while one's drying I can work on the other 003 by Mark Hartig, on Flickr 002 by Mark Hartig, on Flickr Am doing the twin screw chassis with the day cab. AMT does not give you this option but it should be easy enough to accomplish with a bit of fudging. Molding and fit are not too great but I've come to expect this from the letter kits Regards, Mark

Joel, Leon, thank you So after due consideration I decided to get another one of these and do the single screw version first by way of finding whatever mousetraps lay in wait for the unwary. Guess I've got three going at once now. Frame ready for primer with driveline and tires dry fit 002 by Mark Hartig, on Flickr 003 by Mark Hartig, on Flickr 004 by Mark Hartig, on Flickr I was not over fussy with the air lines in back as they will be just about completely hidden by the 5th wheel plate. The question is why I bothered with them at all and I can't answer that. This was one of my better ideas as I have now learned a couple things that will make the twin screw go better Regards, Mark

You're a better man than me trying to work on two builds at one time. Looking forward to more of this one.

Thanks gents Primer on 001 by Mark Hartig, on Flickr I'm gonna try my best to model this with the cab tilted but between lack of reference on what's under a tilted cab and the engine which is a Cummins NHC 250 with some kind of oddball air cleaner box on top of it it's not looking promising at this point. Who knows I may just fake it; I do know what a NTC 350/400 looks like and it can't be all that much different Regards, Mark

Kind words gents I thank you Gonna try to replicate a Consolidated Freight day cab as I like their graphics, hence the frame color 002 by Mark Hartig, on Flickr Found a real one of these so reference shots can be taken. There sure ain't anything on the web I can tell you that after a probable total of 8-10 hours I'll never get back Regards, Mark

You go looking for a specific subject to build in the 1:1 world and suddenly................there aint none! You're doing a bang up job on this one Mark.

Thank you gents Picture taking went well, the only fly in the ointment being the truck had an NTC 250-300 block mounted. Still, good reference since there are not many of these left even in the scrapyards as well as some great reference for an upcoming project. If anyone's gonna build one of these say so and my reference can be yours as well. Blah blah enough It's close now 003 by Mark Hartig, on Flickr Since I was dumb enough to trust in the engineering of the letter kits this will not be a tilted cab. That being said I think I know how to correct the problem on the twin screw. The decals were about as workable as gorilla tape and took a full day and a half a bottle of Micro Sol to get them where they are now. I'd have worked them further but they began to tear and I was concerned they'd dissolve completely. I am considering a thin black oil wash on the cab but have not decided one way or another; this could be done by tomorrow evening if all floats well Regards, Mark

Nice job! Maybe a thin black wash for the panel lines, but a gray may be better for the details...not so stark with the white.

That is a nice job so far Mark!! Yeah Gil's got it right with the really light wash on the white. It's easy to get carried away there.
