as bad as I hate to say this, try Dragon Hobby out of the state of Virginia. Their Verlinden products are grossly over priced, but he seems to have the entire inventory. Next would be Lots Of Models. He also seems to have a large inventory of Verlinden products.

PJ2, FWIW, I have been dealing with Dragon Hobby on E-Bay for years, and never had a problem. Give-em a try.

24 bucks for a piece of printed cardboard, or what is it? I'd rather go and paint a piece of lead foil instead! If you don't feel confident enough to catch the look, the Japanese company Shinsengumi offers waterslide decals with printed camo patterns on them, they have three different splinter variants. Light green base, sand base and the very rare brown version where the green splinters were replaced with ochre ones. www.pacmodelscatalog.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=PCM&Category_Code=Shin

A fine example is them asking $79 for a kit that three years ago sold for $39!! When Verlinden closed shop they added a $20 price gouge to it, and then later added another $20 to the $59. That's worse than what they did with the Classic Airframes Hudson. I've seen it for $220!! On the otherhand, somebody did buy the verlinden masters. Don't remember who it was. gary

Tobi, Gary THANK YOU for the input. Tobi, I like the Verlindin stuff, because it was a tad larger than 1/35. Since it was first produced in the late 80's(ish), it worked out to about 1/31st scale, which isn't too bad, put let's me adapt it for 1/25th scale. I guess I could take a solid clear color print down to the local reprographic center and have them print me off something close to 1/25.

Gary, from what I have read I'm afraid the Verlinden masters were all scraped and went to the bin! What a shame...
I liked their stuff also pretty much (at reasonable prices back then) and found it pretty harsh how some modelers reacted upon the news of their business shutdown. There were statements like I won't miss them, the stuff was crap, badly detailed anyhow, and so on.
To me it sounded like some fools bragging and immediately raised the question to my mind: "has anyone of you ever tried to sculpt a figure, or make a detailed master, break it down in sub-assemblies and then cast it bubble-free and without warping into resin?" I doubt it. People are spoiled today. Verlinden was an artist and a pioneer in the aftermarket field, when it was a vast and sparse desert. The only other modeler who has ever influenced me like he did since then was MIG and his new style of weathering.
I'm still looking forward to get my hands on one of the Ferdinand/Elefant interiors for the Dragon kit some day.

I think it was Mike West (LSP) who said that somebody bought all the masters, but not the molds. It was one of the well known names, but who? As for being bad, guess none of them ever tried Aires. At least Verlinden parts fit. You have to remember that most of these guys whining and crying can't build a kit unless it falls together. That's why we see them all locked onto one brand name. They have no real idea what's right or wrong. gary

Tobi- AWESOME point. For me and me alone, I never really liked the Verlinden products NOT because of price, detail, fit, scale or lack there of. No I just never liked the stuff for a very petty reason. I fancy myself a scratch-building modeler. I grew up with literally nothing in the way of detailed kits, ( yes I know this sounds like... "I walked to school in the snow uphill BOTH ways" kind of story). So as I developed my skills I had less and less use for aftermarket and then production kits. Consequently this was about the time Verlinden was hitting their stride. I used to rail against these type of products because it seemed to me that at the same time in competitions all you needed to sway the judges was a lot of After Market "doo-dads". That was my take on the Verlinden/after-market explosion of the late 80's and 90's. To say it embittered me would be an understatement.... Now the more seasoned/rational me, takes the whole thing with a grain of salt. The funny thing that is lost to a whole generation of modelers is, what an AWESOME and innovated modeler Francois Verlinden was. Shep started the craze here in the states....but overseas it was Francois.

Whitney you ARE a scratch-building modeler. No doubt about that!

Last I heard Michigan Toy Soldiers have all the Verlinden Masters. Mrosko had them and just sold them all along with the Warriors Stuff to MTS so we may see some re-releases soon. Sabot(Mrosko) will be publishing the Verlinden walk around books.
If I remember the Poncho had to be applied to Lead Foil.. Now it would be Pewter or Alum tooling metal. (I use the 2" Alum Foil Tape from Home Depot) You could just print the pattern with a inkjet then seal with a clear then apply to the sticky side of the Alum Tape.
If you still want real lead look on amazon for Golf Club Lead weight tape. This is the only place I could find Lead at a reasonable price since it is now considered a HAZMAT Item.

Ahhh brainfart.. 1/64 is .016 thick not .0016 so will be tough to use for ponchos.. Going to try and use some to make a tilt but I think it will be too thick.
