Anything for modeling..... So, here's a shot of some bodily waste, primed. This is the glacis armor module, ready to go on. IMG_2206 by Russel Baer, on Flickr It looks better in primer than I thought it would. And the rest of the tank, with the brackets and stuff for the side skirts on, and a bit of added detai to the gun travel lock. IMG_2205 by Russel Baer, on Flickr IMG_2204 by Russel Baer, on Flickr And finally the 'Gal, starting to add some hull details here, and really trying to use up some resin. IMG_2203 by Russel Baer, on Flickr Even after I get these two ready for paint, I still have at least three, possibly more, of the Tamiya/ Academy kits, and maybe two or three Esci/Revell/Italeri/Ertl kits. Maybe a lottery?

Always interesting to see one of your builds in progress Russel, maybe you can market that new formula of anti-slip and call it the "Hairy Chin" and nice photo & restore by TRM of an original M60... I bet there's not many of those left.

"Organic" anti slip, yeah that's it, yeah..... So.... a few more bits today, mostly hull stuff, with some parts going on to the 'Gal turret. I did fing out that the Academy stowage box lids fit on the Italeri/Esci/Revell/Ertl hull, nice bit of trivia to know. And I also found another box of AM stuff, so the Batash hull got some Def Model fender front piecs, and part of a Dragon fender where I cut crooked. Oops. IMG_2207 by Russel Baer, on Flickr IMG_2209 by Russel Baer, on Flickr And 'Gal: IMG_2208 by Russel Baer, on Flickr And jus' cuz it was there: IMG_2211 by Russel Baer, on Flickr I'm planning on picking up the Takom CM-11 soon, and may save the Dragon M60 turret for that, or I may not. I've certainly got enough parts to do at least one more.

Hi rbaer, I came across a product that you might be interested in for Anti-Slip Texture. It's blasting sand (for orthodontic purposes, i.e. cleaning dentures) or aluminium oxide, which comes in three different grain sizes : 0.05 mm, 0.11 mm and 0.25 mm. I believe that (in 1/35 scale) the 0.05 is suitable for US Desert vehicles and the 0.11mm is near spot on for IDF vehicles.

That looks good. Where and how do you buy it? And it looks like your using MrSurfacer to stick it too? So while I'm here, here's a couple of pics on the small amount of progress I've made on the Batash: MG's, a combination of Legends, AFV Club and Academy parts: IMG_3078 by Russel Baer, on Flickr And the tank itself, just more bits stuck on, and I've started brush painting all the areas that are hard to get rattle can paint into: IMG_3077 by Russel Baer, on Flickr Dang it, work gets in the way. I've been going to San Antonio most every day, and one way trip of 90 miles, nmot much modeling time left.

Hi Rbaer, Mate I can't take credit for that, just something I came across and of course I remembered making a comment on your thread. Yes it's a Vallejo primer, the end result looks good and I know you do a lot of IDF builds so I thought I'd share it with you. jvtroyen.blogspot.com.auI'm not sure which product he's using as the photo of it is not very clear but you can buy it on eBay
Hope that helps Edit - sorry I should of checked that link, should be working now... scroll to the bottom for that tip.

Oh! While I'm here, I have been modeling! The 'Batash is in color, mostly done except for a few panel lines I need to scribe (lost in the hair) and and some things I won't add until the weathering is mostly done. Pics: IMG_3084 by Russel Baer, on Flickr IMG_3083 by Russel Baer, on Flickr The turret armor modules are several pieces each, and the real things aren't always perfectly aligned, as depicted by Academy. The hair filled the faint lines by academy in a couple of places, so I need to scribe those before I go further. And the 'Gal. I built up the Legends "Teacher's chair", a nice little kit in itself, and mounted over the open loader's hatch. Tedious, but it looks neat. I also bought (using store credit at my local shop from a stack of Sherman kits) the AFV Club M60A3, and took the tracks and final drives and sprockets out of it. I had to shorten the tracks one link, interesting because they're unaffected by any glue I have so I took a link out and drilled the new end link to take the pin they fasten with (not difficult)so as to get a better fit, so now I have lots of AFV Club parts. I also used some sliced rod to represent the mounts for the dismounted glacis reactive armor (to allow use of the Nochri mount). Oaky, enough writing, picture time: IMG_3082 by Russel Baer, on Flickr IMG_3081 by Russel Baer, on Flickr And I can tell here, didn't notice it earlier, that I have a shackle loose on the chair: IMG_3080 by Russel Baer, on Flickr IMG_3079 by Russel Baer, on Flickr Model on, Garth!

Thanks Leon. More bits added the the 'Gal: tow cable brackets, stretcher mount, more un-used armor mounts, then the smoke grenade launchers on some cobbled-together mounts, and the urdan cupola from what is now a spare Batash kit. I was supposed to be using up parts kits, but I've already robbed two complete kits for parts. Hmmm..... Pics: IMG_3749 by Russel Baer, on Flickr IMG_3750 by Russel Baer, on Flickr More later, me hopes.

Oh how time flies.... I actually got the T/C's mortar mount done, going to leave the mortar itself off as I don't think much of any of the kit parts I have and really don't feel like scratching one up. I also got primer on, red oxide automotive primer for this one, and as soon as the wind dies down, will do the base color. Odd looking color is where I used a brush and some home-brew acrylic to cover areas that I couldn't get with the rattle can. IMG_4854 by Russel Baer, on Flickr IMG_4853 by Russel Baer, on Flickr I have the tires on the road wheels all beat up and worn looking, and may use a few steel wheels also, with new-looking tires.

Thanks guys. Joel, oddly enough, I was coming home from work last week and I saw a vertical glass display case in front of a house, on the curb so to speak, and I took a quick look at at, then boogied home to grab Miss Piggy (an '03 Dodge dually) and loaded it up. I now have a second display case which holds at least a dozen models. Score!
