Hello friends, this Guy lost it ! I just had enough of bad luck while finishing the Comet and I couldn't resist the feeling any longer, I gave it a good smack ! And I didn't give a d@mn, I still don't as a matter of fact ! What could go wrong just went wrong, problem solved quite dramatic... It was my own mistake, only aiming on perfection, forgetting how fun our hobby really can be. Another factor was : stress !!! I've decided to quit for a couple of months and then to pick up the hobby again. I'm having fun with my wife and kids now, I work in the garden, meet friends and invite family...stress of modelling is fading away. Some things shouldn't be neglected, simple things like relations... If I return to the hobby it'll be to have fun again, not to have sleepless nights filled with modelling issues ! Best regards ! Guy. ps : carry on friends, you're a magnificent bunch of overseas friends !

Guy, you're such a gentle person, but there's apparantly a beast inside...I know all about the feeling ;D...have had that experience as well, although I could restrain myself just in time... well, can't blame you to take a brake, you'll come back in full force no doubt! Hope you still pop in from time to time though Cheers

paulh, thanks for your reaction. The last couple of weeks I was modelling 24/7, trying to get the Comet done. Murphy must have been my assistant, as practically all went wrong (from my point of view at that moment !). Besides that I just wanted to do things with my family, but the Comet was always on my mind. It was a mixture of twisted feelings. Suddenly I snapped and believe it or not, it kinda solved my problem. It's so crazy, because I always have a 100% zen feeling when I am modelling.
chriss, it was a long time ago I took a break, the time to take one's now. Thanks mate !
Dicky my friend, as I mentioned already I consider myself to be a calm guy, never under stress on the work bench, however...I lost it. The only good thing is now I know I can reach a certain breaking point too even after ten years in the hobby.
Wouter, it made me think deep how to to reorganize things in my mind. There's more besides glueing, painting and weathering a model. When I return to the work bench it won't be as fanatic as in the past, I'll do the best I can but I won't bring myself down anymore. Also, at some point an artist needs to know where to stop and to feel satisfied. I kept on battling the results of my weathering efforts even if these were good anyway, I lost the feeling of being satisfied.
Ricardoram, I believe many modellers know the feeling of being frustrated or stressed out and admitting that is also part of the hobby, I hope it will make me a better modeler in the future, and I promise not to crack or smack another model (LOL).
T, thank you too mate, I think quitting the hobby will be impossible : it's not just about modelling but also about having friends all over the world who share the same passion.
I keep visiting this brilliant site !

When it starts to become a chore and not a source of relaxation, then it's time to take a break and come back to it later on. I had a similar moment last year (although it didn't involve the destruction of a build) and took an extended break...and when I was ready to build again, the stash was still waiting patiently and available. Take all the time you need and hang around forums and such until the "spark" returns...it inevitably will, just a matter of when!

Hey G, sorry I'm late seeing this thread. Sorry to hear bro but understand completely. The family comes first so take some time out and have fun with them. the hobby will always be there when your ready again. can understand the frustration, been there done that. Now I just move onto another model and come back later when the mojo is there.
Like Bill said, hang around the forums when you need some hobby contact and so we know your ok.
