Hey Paul, I completely agree with T. I also use the Tamiya gloss Clear mixed with Tamiya Flat Base for my flat coat. Or i can back of the flat base a bit and have a nice satin finnish. I also use Tamiya gloss clear to replicate Glass over guages and the like. Hope that helps man. Gary

Hey Paul............not teaching ya to suck eggs or anything mate but be very careful when handling ya build once you have applied this.................i use Johnsons `Klear` mostly and put it thru the AB but i do use X22 on occasions.....................these cover coats can remain soft a fair while and any prolonged handling and keeping a finger in the wrong place for even a short while can soften the layer and leave a delightful print due to the heat from ya skin softening the top layer of coating. I generally do it in thin layers and leave between coats, once the final application is on i then avoid touching it for a week!!...........i`ve heard this can happen even after a month , i usually wear a disposable glove to hold and keep handling to the very outer edges!! Like i say mate............ya probably aware of this anyway, i use loads of `Klear` on my car builds................ and i have learnt the hard way btw ;D HTH bud

One more question guys; Do either the gloss or flat base need to be thinned out and if so what would be best -Tamiya thinner or good ole fashioned water?
TIA P

No boo, -I needed all of that mate. I've never glossed up a model for weathering before- alsways done it on a flat base with resaonable results , but with the Leo, - it needs washes over a gloss coat to help start pinging out thr detail. Thank you very much for all of that. Cheers P

Hi
And for those who have trouble with X-22 its not actually made to be used as a gloss coat, its a gloss additive to be added to Matt paints to give a glossier finish, its not supposed to be used on its own.
The trouble is some people us it as a gloss coat and have no issues but others report big problems.
So if it works for you well done and if it does not, well its because you are not using the stuff properly.
I was told that by Tamiya USA some time ago.
Paul
