Lately I have been focusing on one build at a time. But I find that leads to short bench sessions and lots of downtime in between when paint and/or glue is drying and there is nothing else to do on that project. Having a concurrent small side project to switch off to at the same time does sound attractive.

Having a concurrent small side project to switch off to at the same time does sound attractive. This was my initial reasoning for the multiple builds. Sometimes it snowballs but I typically try to stay with at least 3. So I can put in a long bench session if I want. I have too many right now and need to refocus and trim the list back down to 3 or 4

Now I’m trying to clear up the backlog of old sidelined builds, and complete any new starts as well. So far it’s working… for now

I have probably 3-5 currently being worked on slowly, a little at a time. I have numerous 95% finished pieces awaiting to be part of a diorama wherein the final 5% will be finished (usually weathering to tie the piece into the dio). I also have dozens of figures in various stages of finish. I have an equal amount of resin pieces (figures and kits) that have been de-sprued, cleaned and cataloged in bags ready for assembly. I tend to get all enthusiastic about a project, get it all cleaned up or partially together and then become bored or find some other shiny object that commands more attention. Thought retirement would cure the issue but it's only gotten worse. Somebody's going to inherit a bunch of partially finished kits, assembled but unpainted kits and figures, a whole bunch of finished dioramas (all boxed and stored due to insufficient display space) and crap loads of untouched kits. They'll have to get a decent sized dumpster.
Cheers, C.

My OCD says I can only do 1 at a time. I’ve got a HUGE build area. It’s a closet!!!.

Typically I just have 1 going at a time. Recently though I have explored doing 2 at the same time. So far I enjoy being able to jump back and fourth between the two projects.

Keeps things interesting at the bench. Also, For me, the second or even third build allow me to be more patient. Because when I'm at the bench I want to keep going. But sometimes the process includes a need to stop. I am not good at that, so I force myself to be good at it by building more than one thing at once.

Right now I have about 14 projects going all at the same time. Some aircraft, some armor/vehicles and some ships and boats. Some of these are close to being done.

I try to keep it around 5-6 active builds, so there’s very little downtime when things are drying. Normally two of the builds are my “main” focus, with the rest just there to fill time. The plan is, as projects get finished, one of the started kits moves up the priority list.
All that being said, I have a really hard time NOT starting too many new projects. So many shiny objects!
