1/48 Revellogram B-17G

Did this one awhile ago for something different. My original plan was to do the natural metal choice of the two versions the kit gives you decals for but one of my friends pointed out something while visiting one day. It seems his dad served as flight engineer and top turret gunner on the OD version of this aircraft, Chow Hound, so the plan was immediatly altered and the finished model went to him once complete.





















I found detal to be weak in a few spots so I used Quickboost engines that were detailed out with solder oil lines and .020 styrene pushrods, brass machine gun barrels from a source I do not recall, and DEF (I think) tires and rims on the main landing gear. I used all but one of the kit supplied figures and added more from ICM which were most excellent as plastic figures go. I also tossed the little Tammy fuel truck in on a whim. For me, this was quite the project

I can only look on in amazement at all the details as well as the whole thing in general. What a very well built B-17 and surrounding diorama Mark. I've not known you to build aircraft but maybe you should start doing more because this one turned out as near perfect as it gets man.

I'll do aircraft occasionally but the size of the finished models challenge my limited display space. I also notice now that I got this in the wrong place as this is not a post WW II plane. Must be gettin old

What an outstanding B-17 you have built. Really gorgeous build. That is an honorable gesture to build such a wonderful tribute and to gift it to your friend. Bravo my friend.

Thank you gents despite its age this kit is still pretty good, it does not take a whole bunch of extra work to make it look halfway decent. The fact that it's eighty bucks cheaper than the HK offering don't hurt neither.

Joe it was 2010 when I began this latest modeling phase; I had an entire room for building/display which I thought was plenty of space, silly me. Lately I've been giving some of the older stuff away to make room for the newer stuff

I did the same exact thing in 2011 Mark. I'm being faced with the possibility of giving stuff away myself. lol
