WWII B-25J Mitchell Bomber. 1/48 scale, Revell

This was the second kit built after reentering the hobby, which I picked up from Michael's Craft Store for about $12 with a half off coupon. She was all hand-painted with Folk Art acrylics, as I'd not yet figured out airbrushing. It was a decent kit, and you couldn't beat the price! I looked upon it as a learning kit, as I found my way through trying to advance my skills.

I forgot to put the pilot on the cockpit, LOL, and the machinegun fell out so, I placed the pilot taking a break with the gun in question






The name 'Kari' on the plane's nose art is an homage to my wife, Karen

Another banger of a Monogram kit. You certainly have an artistry with these. You've punched out a gorgeous B-25. absolutely terrific brush painting. Nice recovery with the pilot and MG. Very ingenious. Again, love that you honor your wife. Very classy.

That's a good lookin' B-25 Emery. I dunno if I would've thought of the whole pilot with the machine gun ordeal but that was a very good thought. The tribute to your wife in name on the nose of the bird was a very honorable addition.

Thanks all…I appreciate the kind words! It’s one of the few I still have in the collection and it’s a good reminder of my pre-airbrush days. About the time I built this, I was following the work of a modeler named RazorBoy, over at the old Armchair General modeling forum section, which was earliest in my reentry into the hobby, and he used Folk Art craft acrylics a ton… I was frankly, in awe at some of the effects and the overall quality he produced with them. Being such cheaply priced paints, it’s more than a viable option in my book, for the bringing modeler. This one even did well in an IPMS contest, so that is a good indication that these type paints should t be blown off. But that said, they just don5 hold a candle to the more professional airbrush paints, sprayed with a quality AB! IMHO, of course.
