How you did this and maintained your sanity, I simply do not know. I understand this kit to be one of the most challenging and frustrating experiences known to modeling mankind and yet.....you pulled this off without a hitch. And then you went and won an award out of it. You deserve the equivalant of a Medal of Honor in modeling for completing this without loosing your everlovin' mind and then again for completing it as well as you did. Congratulations Emery.

Absolutely brilliant build. As Joe pointed out, this is a notoriously challenging kit to build. Yet, you have gone and full on nailed it. Excellent brush painting skills my friend. And I really enjoy the fact that you used artistic license to honor the wife unit. By the way, good show on the bling. Well deserved.

WOW, thanks! That’s incredibly generous in compliment! This bird of my favorite WWII subjects to build and actually hope to do more. It certainly is a challenge to build but fun, too! Yeah, I seem to have a penchant for naming birds after my wife …she’s definitely above my class! This was my frost attempt at a wash, too… I think that’s what it’s called? As I recall, I think I used ground pastels in water solution on my early tries, which surprisingly worked well!

Hey man.....you earned it. Have you tried one of the Tammy 1/48 Lightnings? I've heard those are a complete dream to put together. Practically assembles itself from what I understand.

A model friend of mine from Australia loves these particular birds and the Tamiya kit is his fav, so I’ve been meaning to lick one up someday…I’ve a considerable stash of all kinds of subjects in front of it though, so I just haven’t picked one up yet, but I should while they’re plentiful.

Looks great! I did this kit a while ago but went in a totally different direction than this. Seeing this one I now want to do a camo one as well.
