1/72 Eduard F6F-3 Hellcat

Well Gang, it is high time I posted an example of some of my handiwork.


This is the Eduard 1/72 F6F-3 Hellcat Profipack and let me tell you, it is one beauty of a kit. This was the last model I completed 8 yrs ago. I used Techmod decals to depict "Little Joe" of VF-51 on board CVL-30 USS San Jacinto. Am parts used were an Ultracast seat w/ harness and Master metal gun barrels. I added copper wire for the brake lines on the landing gear. I used Model Master enamels paints overall. The panel wash is Flory Wash and the exhaust and gun/gun chute staining was achieved with pastels and pigments. A prismacolor silver pencil was used for chipping.  Weathering was done with lightened shades of dark sea blue then an overall dusting of Tamiya light gray highly thinned with 91% iso-alcohol.











I won some first place bling at the Westfest model show in Grand Junction, Co. Also entered it at the 2021 Nats in Las Vegas but, did not place which was fine with me considering the larger competition.

I've been waiting on this build to hit the papers around here (hey...."hit the papers"....that reminds me of a recent joke I told you... ) for a while now. I did FORGET....that this was a 1/72nd scale build however. Man this is just insane as it looks like a 1/48 scale build!! Excellent usage of painting and great detailing. Thank you for sharing this with us old buddy. WOW!!!

I love it. Like Joe said, when lookin' on the chipping, you could totally forget the scale.

Why thank you very much Chris. It was definitely a rather fun build. You may recall that this was one of my entries at the Vegas Nats. Although I did not place, it was simply fun to enter something. Cheers my friend.
