Sweet Dio!
Did you build the Terminators and flying drone from a kit or scratch?
Kinda looks like LA today

Sweet Dio! Did you build the Terminators and flying drone from a kit or scratch? Kinda looks like LA today The t-800s and aerial hunter Killer are Pegasus kits. They both claim to be 1/32 but the HK is more like 1/48. Kind of works in a forced perspective way though.

That looks awesome! Did you scratch build the play ground equipment? Yes. I watched the opening 30 seconds of that movie 100 time to try to get it all correct. Of course some concessions had to be made to fit everything into a smaller area but the fundamental's are all there. The swings, slide, teeter totter and spinner are all pop can aluminum and copper wire. The tricycle is copper wire, plastic sheet and wheels from I think an F-4. The spring rocking horse is a random plastic toy that I melted and cut down. The piles of skulls are cut from the base that came with the T-800s. The ash is sawdust painted grey. The colours in general are meant to replicate the lighting of the movie opening.

I have the tank which is HUUUUGE (3 stories tall in 1/32 scale) and the chrome terminators to do the truck attack scene in the video above. Have to change the gun to a plasma cannon though

You did the movie justice with a fine representation of the beginning. Well layed out, and painted. Thank you for sharing your diorama with us

I really want to get the tank to build! They recently rereleased it so it should be available. I picked mine up in Vegas on vacation in October and hauled it all the way back to Canada. It is a huge box and took most of a suitcase. The wife was not impressed

Sheeew! Looks like I got out of there just in time, HA! Excellent dio! Well actually... Three billion human lives ended on August 29, 1997. The survivors of the nuclear fire called the war Judgment Day. They lived only to face a new nightmare: the war against the machines.

Ok my son and I agree that the wood frame on the base is out of place so I am looking for input on the upgrade. So options requested on: Flat black? gloss black? Chrome silver? Any other ideas?

I’m only half way thru reading but laughed hysterically about the suitcase adventure so had to stop and comment!

Black chrome! Then maybe so a light drybrush in red along the bottom as a reflection of the terminators eyes? Might be too much or out of place. Just spitballing on that one

No No No That scene takes place in 2029. That is when Reese and the original Terminator get sent back to 1984. Skynet destroys the world on August 29, 1997 so we should all be living underground and eating rats long ago.

Well, aside from the various robots of the movies, some parts of L.A. are that beat up… 🤨

OK so I tried the black chrome BMF on the frame and I guess it is to old to stick and get smooth. Anybody have any recommendations for a metallizer paint that I could use on the wood frame? I presume I should prime it first?

If painting the wood frame is too complicated, I would just use wood stain… dark gray or black stain should do the trick?
