1/32 Revell P51D

This is a fantastic 1/32  Mustang kit that won’t break your wallet. This new Revell kit has plenty of fine molded detail and fine delicate panel lines. The only downside which appears to be hit and miss on these are the clear canopy and windscreen parts that have some distortion in the molding process. 
Alclads were used for the NMF and Floquil Old Silver for the main wing areas that had the panel lines puttied and painted.
The main wells had plumbing added and the radio was wired. Also added lines to the main gears and underwing gas tanks.
I added a resin filleted tail to replace the earlier 5NA non filleted one. 
The included kit bond and extra paper tanks were too nice to go into the spares box so I added them into a small diorama made from another of my salvaged picture frames.

Yep Revell new tooled from Revell of Germany not the older mold. Now they have the later 10NA version.

Exceptional work on this aircraft anyhow. Very well detailed work throughout.

That is a really sharply built P-51. Excellent work on the detailing and beautiful paint work. I like the clean look. It makes for a very eye catching P-51. Well done Ernie.

Do all kits have the same distortion in the canopy or could it be just a bad part in your kit?
Usually Revell is very generous in providing free spare parts if you write to them. This is one of the best things about this company.

I've always thought the same thing about Revell and their spare parts/ support division. I'm guessing that Revell of Germany and Revell USA have the same good support? 

I've contacted Revell of Germany on several occasions in my modelers career.
Even when I told them I wanted specific parts only for a conversion, I don't own the donor kit and it's not a problem of damaged or missing parts so I'm willing to pay for it, they still sent it to me for free.
As long as you don't overstretch the service, I guess, they willingly provide excellent service.

Thanks Joe. Usually my builds are not clean but the only known picture of Mary shows that she was very clean.

I was VERY unlucky with mine and the two replacements Revell sent me after contacting them twice and explaining the problem requesting that they made sure the parts were not distorted. Other modelers had the same problem and others did not. It depends on the batch or run when they are casted.

Revell USA is gone, only Revell of Germany is left. They take 4-6 weeks to deliver replacements.
