OK I got brave and went for it with the Modelmaster chrome. With judicious thinning and not getting carried away with the thickness I had plenty with enough left over for touchups if I need them. It was exactly the finish I was after! Looks like "titanium" without being bumper chrome bright. The gun support is the main body colour.Looks really good just plain But comes to life once weathered!

Nice to see some paint going on! Weathering looks good. This is one of those projects that is going to have to be photographed in natural light to show what it really looks like. I am really happy with the weathering but in the pictures it looks way too extreme.

Awesome weathering and painting Tony. That Modelmaster chrome seems to work out very well and I'll be looking forward to those outside pics when you make it to that point bud. Excellent work going on so far.

Track assemblies done. Tracks are Testers small bottle flat steel with a wash of Citadel Agrax Earthshade for some patina. Figured that even in the Skynet world of 2029 tank tracks are tank track. Most of body is shiny silver (not bumpy like pictures make it look)with exposed equipment and some panels done in flat steel. Wanted variation but not massive differences. Base Steel with black wash

I can't wait to see it all put together, it is looking great! The tracks are perfect imho. Should be in final assembly by the weekend. Just a few finishing touches now. I really will need to get some outdoor natural light shots to show it the best though. It won't fit into my light box and the colour really bleeds out with the incandescent lights in the house.

Love this sort of thing.
What was wrong with the kit tracks?

Love this sort of thing. What was wrong with the kit tracks? Nothing. That is what I used. Some people just don't like rubber band tracks though.

I really enjoy seeing the different tonal variations used throughout this build. Being a big fan of the Terminator series (especially the first two) I can definitely appreciate this build. Rock on brutha!!!

Rock on brutha!!! It has been a true exercise in restraint to stick to three near identical colours and a simple black wash in very select areas only. Trying to vary the same shades with different levels of gloss to break things up but still keep everything the same base (if that makes any sense at all). I did a trial wash in a panel line but it was too much so removed it. The lines are deep enough that they create their own shadows anyway.

Imitating metal so it doesn't look painted on is always a real nightmare for me, but you did solve it very well and convincing, from your pictures. I've read a funny quote these days: "Roomba beat me to a piece of Popcorn on the floor. That's how the war on the machines started!"

I am not usually intimidated by doing metal finishes but the size of this thing had me worried that it would not come out well. Even putting things in the pictures can't really show how massive it is in real life. Camo or a flat finish would have been a breeze but trying to hit that right gloss metal really had me going for a bit.

What Tobi said is something along the lines of what I was going to say. Metallic colors are indeed tricky to get a "real" effect from particularly in the glossy finish arena but you seem to have pulled a hat trick with it on this build. Do you have anything that you could put it next to get an idea of the scale....like one of your cats or something common to the eye? A fantastic finale on this build Tony. Way to go buddy.

For those that don't know how big a Sherman tank is for comparison how about a 1/24 Datsun pickup?

Ya see…..that’s more like it. Lol
That’s definitely a sizable build. Where in the world are you going to put that?
