So I built this a couple of years back as a way to break out of the routine of aircraft building. Was feeling low on mojo, just had surgery on hand/elbow and was looking to expand some skills. Firsts for me on this one were the amount of chipping, wear on the add on armor on the skirts, the amount of weathering using various enamel weathering products and definitely the rust effects on the muffler! I don't recall what happened to the machine gun, so I guess the crew took it with them when they abandoned the tank on my bench! Anyway, thanks for looking and would welcome any feedback. I'll try and get some pictures of the M1 A1 Im building now up on the site in the WIP areas soon. Matt

Hello and welcome aboard Matt!! It's truly great to see you again after......jeez.....has it been 7 years? I don't remember ever seeing an armor build from you but you've managed to pull off a very well weathered and worn Panzer here. Love the scuffing and chipping technique on this beauty. Being a Tamiya kit, it had to go together relatively easy. There is a wealth of talent, knowledge and experience here and along with those attributes these are some of the friendliest and helpful folks around. I'm looking forward to having you on this board, getting re-acquainted and seeing more of your work. That Fw190 would be a real treat to see again. Again.....welcome aboard brother.

Matt, welcome to MSC! For someone who doesn’t build armor you did a bang up job on this. Looking forward to seeing your other builds.

Welcome to MSC Matt. It is wonderful to have you join us here.
I am under going a similar experience. I have been an exclusive aircraft builder. Over the past few years the mojo got very low. In order to jump start myself I took to building a 1/48 Tamiya Sherman Firefly. Something out of the box for me but, relatively straight forward. It seems to be working.😁

It was carpal and cubital tunnel surgery. Fingers were constantly going numb and lots of pain throughout my entire arm. Surgery brought some good relief and modeling actually helped maintain the dexterity in my right hand. Also built a Spitfire and 109 during the time off from work as well. This site looks pretty good from what I’ve been able to see so far. Will post more threads tonight. Matt

Must've been a nightmare to go through with your hand/arm. I'm most certainly glad that you are here Matt and am glad that you answered the invite. It's been a loooooong time bro.

A fine looking old warhorse, love them when they have that been in the field along time weathering.

Looks good to me! Is this the new tool Panzer IV J, or Tamiya’s older 70’s vintage kit?
