Thanks Gary. It really is a nice kit. I would not mind building another of these one day, perhaps an early Vietnam scoutship. It builds up pretty. easy, but the instructions are a bit vague about placement of an antenna on the tail area.

Such small but VERY capable aircraft and I have always loved this airframe. Very well built and detailed. If I'm not mistaken didn't these have a 6 cylinder piston engine in them?

Leon and Joe, thank you.
Joe, I love the type myself… going back to my youthful ruffian days when that was what the local PD’s flew and we would hide from… 😉 And yes, as far as I know, they used various 6 cylinder engine types during their service lives.

Still looks great, Carlos!
The H-13 always had a 6 cylinder engine, but the the earlier versions up to the OH-13G had a Franklin O-335, which was replaced by a Lycoming O-435 in the OH-13H and later. I went to school on these when I was in the Cal ARNG.

I was tempted in getting this old kit several times, but so far reason won over the heart. Seeing how fine it can turn out makes it more difficult. And it's actually my favorite scale, not 1/32.

John, I vaguely remember that you had been trained on these when I was building the kit. Where was your Guard unit stationed? I know most of the CA ARNG aviation assets are stationed at Fresno or Los Alamitos since at least the 80’s.
Tobi, I would say get the kit. Especially if it’s in your preferred scale and you don’t already have one in your collection. It’s a win/win. 😉

Also a fan. Nice job Carlos. I've done two in 1/48 - the awesome multimedia Esoteric models kit and the Italeri kit which is pretty nice. I have the float coastguard version in the stash. Pilot looks great - especially his jacket.

Chad & John, thanks for the compliments!
Chad, I do agree that there should be more choppers on here.
John, I’d like to build the Italeri 1/48 kit someday. I was really happy with how the pilot turned out on my build, especially his flight jacket.

Carlos, my unit was in Stockton, on the south side of the airport. It's still there but under a different unit name. We had CH-47A's when I got out, they are flying CH-47F's now.
I have the Italeri kit, they make nice helicopter kits. The one I would be most likely to build first is the MRC OH-13E, as that is the version we had in our unit, with the single fuel tank mounted transversely, The H and later had the saddle tanks. I'd probably have to build up the tail boom on the Italeri kit out of brass rod to get a more to scale appearance.

I’ve probably ridden in a few of their 47’s back when I was in the CA ARNG.

ADT & TJ, thank you! I’m very happy to hear that you guys like this one. It’s a good kit, if you ever come across one.

Andy and Chris, thanks for looking in and your kind comments.
Andy, have you seen the MRC H-13 kit? its the earlier version with different fuel tank set up. This kit was good enough for me, nothing too fancy.

Both the Revell and mrc kits are pretty nice considering they were tooled in the 90's. I combined the two kits to build the 47 from the old Whirlybirds tv series.

COOL! I am usually happy with MRC kits when I built them in the past so I definitely will look into it. Thanks again!
