Here's the Peneski PC-6 converted to the PC-7 Indycar. The first ground effects car for Indy cars... This was a very interesting build to say the least. Finding reference pics for this build proved to be a little challenging but as we know....that's part of the build. Also...I would like to Thank Gary from Circle Track Decals for the time and effort he put in to making the Decals for this very cool paint scheme. Thanks folks for stopping in and commenting... 1-1 at SPEED.... The build...... Rear shot showing Tim and His ROOKIE Stripes....

It's always cool to get a set of cals for a specific car that you're building and this one sure is set off by them. I've only built a few competition rides in my time but it's like building a historical aircraft, tracked vehicle or something of the sort.......all the details have to be at least close to the original as possible and it looks like you've done a bang up job with that here Gary.

Thank you John... Thanks for the kind words Joe.
This car was a conversion from the AMT PC-6 kit. Both the side pods had to be removed and new made into the NEW Ground effect side pods. Lance Sellers made a trans kit for that car abut 10 yrs ago. He only made a few as it didn't sell to well I'm thinking. I asked him if he would pour me one and he refused. Sooo...I had to fab my own. HA..... no problem....it just took me longer to build the car. LOL!

Oh yea, Lance already had the mold made and sold a few. I just got to the game a little late. Lance does a very limited run of each subject that he makes. That was fine with me...I am a fabricator any way. So..it turned out ALL GOOD. Know what I mean Vern...LOL

Looks great! My dad actually painted all of the original versions for the 1980 and 1981 Tim Richmond 500 cars. They had a few different variations for advertising throughout the month. Got my own model done recently as well. Mine is set for qualification. It was always my favorite paint scheme.

Looks awesome! I had one made by Stu Benford not too long ago myself. Fun fact, my dad is the one who actually painted the original cars back in 1980 for Richmond at the 500. He also did his 1981 car.

When you get a chance, post up an intro post so everyone can get to know you a little better. Glad you're here. Joe

Looks fantastic, Gary! I'm building a couple of Indy cars myself but I no idea how to fabricate one! Nice work!

Gary was an absolutely incredible builder and an even better guy. I still expect the phone to ring on some Saturdays so he could tell me what he was working on or whatever else. This Tim Richmond build was truly amazing. Always one of my favorites of his.
