There's a friend of mine that has been working away on his Kingfisher and I've always wanted to build a Kingfisher BUT....never liked the Monogram kit. When I went on a search for a possible newly released kit from a possibly different manufacturer, I turned up with nothing but all these newer released Monogram/ Revell kits. However, I did find an update set from Flightline Engineering that was worth its weight in gold. Pretty much every aspect of this kit has been upgraded/ revised by this guy. Beautiful update set for around $50 shipped.

Lol. I’ll catch it all up in on post. Deleted all my op’s to avoid confusion. I didn’t feel like it being started under one account and being finished by what looks like a totally different member

Ok....time to catch this thread up now.... First off, I managed to pick up a 3D printed P6 catapult in which to display this aircraft on... I had purchased a set of canopy masks but they were vinyl soooooooooo, I had them made into a paper tape style of masks by a good friend on another forum. Maybe we'll get him here too. First order of business was to cut the original floats off of the fuselage to make way for the updated floats from FE. Then I had to make modifications to the inside of the fuselage to make way for the update kit. and then I had to cut the wings in half to work with the cockpit modifications: Along they way I picked up the MUCH coveted Cutting Edge Cockpit Super Detail set which changed the direction of this build somewhat but definitely will not halt it. I got all KINDS of goodies with this haul. Along the way I picked up a slew of reference materials....... and got a good set of decals for it:

I started the construction of this aircaft with the R985 Wasp engine. The update set from FE contained a VERY nicely detailed example so I went with that. The build up went pretty well and after base coats and a wash the details were picked out. And then after the ignition harness and pushrod tubes were installed here's the results:

I started on the interior this morning by getting all of the larger part cut from the molding blocks and then cleaning some of it up. LOTS of details in this detail up kit.

This is a nice thread. I had one of these a few years back and searched diligently for the resin upgrade for the center float. Eventually sold the kit. Nice to see someone else makes one. You’ll do this one justice for sure!

The Cutting Edge front cockpit area is just dripping with details. Frickin' crazy!! It's really too bad that this update set is out of production as it really brings this old Monogram kit to a new level.

I need to find one and do it OOB (well maybe some scratch cockpit greeblies) undersized float and all.

I'm quite sure you'll do this one justice OOB Tony. For me, there was just too much opportunity for detailing once I spotted the 3D printed goodies first and then the Cutting Edge update set next.

The one thing that I'm going to have to get used to is painting all the details with them already in place/ molded in. New challenge for me......BUT.....I see all these armor guys doing so I guess it's my turn now.
