So I have been working on this one off and on for a while now. I have re-painted it twice now as I wasn't sure I liked the way the AK real colors line looks with a black base, so I cleaned off all the paint and sprayed it again w/out the black base, and am still not sure that I am happy with the way the colors look. Anyway, think that this kit is from a double kit boxing with the other kit being a Bf-109G. Here is the marking option that I decided to use as I do like the stylized Adler markings on the fuselage. Untitled by matt pohlman, on Flickr And here is where the kit sits right now. Stunning paint job! Is the kit by Eduard? I have been thinking about getting one of those someday. It is the Eduard kit. I have built several of the 190D's and this is my first A, but I must say that they are fun to build. You do have to focus on the cowling fitment as that can be tricky and the D fuselage guns in front of the cockpit are a bit tricky, but other than that, a blast to build. Thanks for the comment on the paint job!

Outstanding 190 Matt. Really excellent work you have done. The paint looks perfect to me. Aww yes, I remember the Butcher Bird GB very well. I'll be posting a separate thread on the build I did for that.
It is my understanding that starting in 2017 Eduard retooled their FW 190 line to address the complicated and tricky cowling/landing gear issue. The new molds are a bit more builder friendly now.

Your paint job looks great. Regarding the tones I guess the AK colors are not true to the real ones, but are adjusted for modeling and weathering.
I must say I've read horrible things about their "Real Color" range, more precisely the accompanying book(s), how original color charts inside were switched to totally different tones (no clue what's the reason, if it was the printing or whatever) and how sections written by acknowledged experts were re-edited, material deliberately left out and the information got watered (maybe to make them fit the color products better?). All I know is that Mike Starmer, who originally contributed for the section about British armor and vehicles was kind of upset about the result and distanced himself from it since he was referred to by the publisher. They matched paint schemes to the wrong objects, though he pointed it out to them and even gave them the right ones, and so on. A very plastical example came from a contributor of the German section, who posted a picture of the RAL color chart he gave them, laid out between the book pages where the same color chart is depicted and photographed this. You can tell it is the same chart because of a unique biro mark on both of them, but they look totally different. In the book it is greenish, and the original chart is brownish.
Okay, now I got carried away a bit, sorry for that. In the essence I have to say, never stop being suspicious, question everything and most of all go only with what you like, not what others tell you and especially not what someone wants to sell to you.

AK Real Colors... personally I love those paints. Thinned with Gunze Mr Levelling Thinner, they airbrush superbly. Applied very thin over a black base coat they can give gorgeous results. It's very much a "that looks about right" approach to color, as opposed to say using Humbrol, Revell, Tamiya, or Model Master for a solid base color. But the end results really look good. At least I really like them. In the jar, the colors are very saturated, almost too bright/rich. But apply them real thin over a dark primer and wow!

Should be an easy one to complete once the model workshop is back up and running when the move is complete. <Matt

You're doing a fantastic job on the mottle patterns if you ask me Matt. I do hope your move goes smoothly and without incident....especially to the models. Looking forward to seeing more on this one when you get back to it. I do hope you'll visit when you have time and comment here and there as your company is valued brother.
