Outstanding progress Tony. Everything about the construction looks tight bro. I'm anxious to see you get paint on the skin of this beaut. I like where your going with the figures.

That's always an enjoyable stage when figures start getting test fitted to the vehicle. It makes the project take on an appearance of being real, instead of just an empty shell.

I didn't do a whole lot last week, but I laid down a basecoat of old faithful Tamiya XF-60 and I worked on 3rd figure. I also started the roadwheels instead of trying to tackle them all at once,I just did the inner set,its not so daunting when doing one set at a time,I used my trusty circle template to set the edges.

coming along nicely. How effective is the circle template in general? Clearly on this kit you have a perfect fit.

Thank you, someone recommended this one online some years ago,it has more sizes then ones I've seen in Staples,so I have gotten good fits on a lot of kits,it's also not a magic bullet, gotta be patient and find a way to handle the wheels, also keep a paper towel on hand to wipe paint build up from the inside of the hole after a few wheels so it doesn't mark up the black, but results are good

Excellent forward movement Tony. Sure looks quite good so far. You noted the template to me earlier and I will keep that in mind should I build more armor in the future. Still have yet to put the QuickWheel templates to the test but soon I hope. I just got to visit my LHS yesterday and he just started carrying the Tamiya lacquer line of paints. I decided I'd give them a try and so I got some German armor colors. I noticed that the color numbers do not line up as the lacquer dark yellow is LP-55. Going to practice a bit with them to start out.

Any progress is helpful. Base coat of paint is usually a major point of nearing the basic end of construction and moving into the finishing stage.

Small update,I got my roadwheels painted, filtered, and washed all 36 pieces, I'm pretty happy with the look, maybe some dried mud,I'm definitely keeping the weathering light on this one. Well I can't put it off anymore, gotta paint the dreaded camo pattern this week, for me always a little dicey trying to get the right look.

Wheel on the sticks!!! I love that kind of food and you have made me very hungry now. Your wheels are looking great! And those circle templates work wonders for me too!

Wheels came out great. And LOL, I think for most of us the camo pattern puts a little consternation into the painting process!

Looking good Tony, now that you have the road wheels finished you are ready for the fun stuff.
Will you stick with Tamiya paints for the camo? If so, what colors will you use? I'm always interested in what tamiya color #'s people use for German camo patterns.

XF88 Dark Yellow 2, XF89 Dark Green 2, and XF90 Red Brown 2?

I have not,but its a little late now,I will look at them for future builds I haven't either. I'd be interested in seeing the difference. It's possible they may not be appropriate for a Ausf. D, but never say never.

Coming along quite well sir. I still paint roadwheels by hair stick, less complicated to me as it's the way I've been doing it for years

Tony That's coming on beautifully. A really nice paint job. I've got a circle template too, although nowhere near as many choices! As you say, handling the wheels can sometimes be tricky. Keep up the great work.

Got my camo painted,I filtered and did a pin wash with Mig products.I also did a little painting on the figures.I was fairly happy with the pattern will do some chipping and a few pigments. Good LORD Tony! Man that looks GREAT! Can't believe I missed the updates to this but I'm glad I found it. I can't get over the depth of the paint work with the pin washes and other weathering techniques you've used.
