These individual track links with multiple holes you have to fill or things you have to sand down are a major PITA! Probably my least favorite aspect of armor modeling.

But I don't know... I think the track pins falling out (where you may have to glue all of them with CA to rectify) might be about as frustrating... It's always something.

RFM track set arrived today so I can now take this up again. As a side note, it seems RFM and HK Models are one in the same, at least it sez so on the track set box. I was not aware of this H it looks like they just give ya the sprues from the full kit; thanks for the suggestion Andy thanks for the look at what these thing will be like So where was I Hull halves joined and basecoat overall Roadwheels pinwashed and drying. By was of experiment I did the pinwash without applying a glosscoat just to see how it worked, and it did not go over well as the wash did not want to flow and cleanup was more difficult than otherwise. Dirt and mud here next The track set. The pins have to be glued in and there's some cleanup needed but it's not too bad and they look equally as good as the T-Rex set. They even fit the drive sprockets The artillery piece finished in Field Grey with a stipple pattern camo in dark green Tracks'll keep me out of the bars for awhile but they look good and are substantially more rugged than the resin set. These I can work with

This is looking great. Sorry about those tracks, but at least you found a solution.
Loving the addition of the arty piece. Can't wait to see you put it all together on a base!

Nice recovery work on the tracks Mark. That’s an interesting note on HK and RFM. The work you've done on the road wheels looks nothing short of intense.......lots of patience required I'm sure. She's starting to look like a tank now with the hull halves joined up too.
Your artillery piece is coming together nicely as well. What are your plans for that?

That is some great progress Mark. The tracks look terrific. Nice work there. Interesting about your attempting a pinwash without a gloss coat. A good while ago I watched a video by some dude that was "debunking the myth"" of having to glosscoat prior to applying a wash. He was indeed pulling off a pinwash, on a P-38 I believe, on a matte coat. Regardless, given my experiences, I was not sold. I will still gloss prior to wash. You just further validated the necessity of a gloss coat.

You can do washes without a gloss coat. They just flow a lot better on top of a gloss coat.

Thanks gents Joe I ain't tellin in case I botch the plan S yes it is, a French manufactured 155mm. It stands to reason the Krauts captured some of these and you know how they were about repurposing equipment TD crew Track building. I settled on using a light application of CA glue on the pins as LPC wicked into the joint Running gear muddied and installed I'll kill the glossy finish with dust and a flatcoat. Camo pattern will have to wait for a day when I'm not wiped out from bouncing around in a hot truck for eight hours

Superb job weathering the wheels! Thanks for the tip of using CA glue on the pins! Are your pins or tracks made of resin instead of plastic? My set is made of plastic for sure.

The set's all plastic of a softer variety that makes sprue trimming and getting rid of pin marks easy. They're much more durable as well
Thanks for positive comments gents

reserve LOL!! No worries. Looking forward to seeing what you come up with. I hear you on bouncing around in a hot truck all day. I've been getting murdered at work these days. It's just HOT and there's a TON of work to do. Those tracks look swell Mark. I've always been fascinated at the amount of work that goes into the tracked portion of these builds. Amazing.....

Said work is avoidable; all one has to do is use the rubber band set the kit usually gives you. I'd have done this if I was using the side schurtzen but it's very difficult to get the track sag right on a Panther chassis with bandies. The RFM indies aren't difficult to work with, they're just tedious. It rained and now my workplace is a quagmire again so another tank day (well, afternoon anyway). First camoflauge color applied Tammy Red Brown. Next chance I get I'll apply the dark green portion, and that may be tomorrow if it keeps raining

Went to work yesterday morning and we tried to get something done. We have a Cat 950K loader as part of the equipment roster, and I spent more time in that pulling stuck trucks out of the mud than I did driving mine. There's nothing quite like the feel of going sideways in a vehicle that weighs around 70,000 pounds while trying to get from point A to point B between ponds...none of us cared much for it. On the strength of that we decided to abandon the project until it dries out lest someone lose a truck or get themselves killed, so I got the time to try to do this build justice. Pattern complete, shiny coat applied and curing. I think they look awful at this stage A few hours to cure then I'll be back at it...so the plan sez anyway

You're pullin' that scheme off very well Mark. I'm definitely lookin' forward to seeing this one come together. I remember driving those loaders in the military and didn't like driving them on dry land much less slippin' and slidin' all over the place like you're describing. Scary.

Your paint looks awesome. That is some really choice work on the camo scheme and on the wheels. It appears tat your efforts on the tracks are going to pay mighty dividends. Really great work and progress Mark.

Thank you gents Chipping away here and there, tracks done and installed, pinwashed, and flatcoated. Detail painting next along with the rest of the dust and dirt Say what you will about the tedium of assembling workable indy link track...the results are always worth the effort

That paint work is nothing short of magnificent and you're right......those Indy tracks look to be truly worth all the tedious effort that you've put into them. The whole build is just dripping with detail and it's all coming together nicely. LOVE the damaged fender.

Love how your Jagdpanther is looking. Everything is sharp. Looking forward to the finished detail painting. That part is giving me trepidations when I get to it on my Panther build. Keep it coming Mark. Well done.
