Yes! That's what I'm talkin' 'bout! A lower hull and a ton of road wheels. Refresh my memory, Leon, what kit is this again? I'm finding it hard to keep up on all the cool threads now that we're started.

Anthony, thanks! Now to keep rolling with it.
Dave, ton of road wheels is right. Just glad there's no return roll. This is a Dragon kit.
Andy, thanks buddy!
Joe, if things keep going good this should move pretty smoothly!
Joe, thanks for the input there!

That was nice update! Still love those Dragon kits but I admit I was never fan of the DS track so you are much braver than me for using them!

Looks like a good start! Interesting for a Bergepanther with the round turret opening.

Joe, thank you! I really needed a break from dull paint and camo.
I've got a car waiting in the wings for the automotive group build.
Marcos, thank you! A round opening for a Panzer IV turret.

Looks like a good start! Interesting for a Bergepanther with the round turret opening. There were many bergepanthers with the round opening. I believe they even outnumbered the purpose built version. I don’t think any of them had the big winch and were pretty much just tugs and tow vehicles. The Dragon kit that Leon is building is an altered Berge. It was a one off command vehicle with a fixed turret and fake gun. Remember the first time I saw the kit and was totally confused by the turret.

You could always scour the net for a set of Tragic Tracks, I recall those being a great deal of fun

Color is looking good Leon.
I'm still undecided whether the gun was fake or functional and the turret fixed or traversable. It seems not too hard to make both happen on this chassis, on the other hand we know of other examples like Bef.Pz.III that were just that way.

Color is looking good Leon. I'm still undecided whether the gun was fake or functional and the turret fixed or traversable. It seems not too hard to make both happen on this chassis, on the other hand we know of other examples like Bef.Pz.III that were just that way. It was a dummy gun and fixed turret. It started life as a Bergepanther (that is why the kit calls it one) and had no drive rings or any other parts to make a functioning turret. As it was a command vehicle the lack of a gun breech, ammo racks and other associated equipment left loads of room for communication equipment, map tables, etc in the turret. The kit is actually inaccurate with the round opening since the real thing was field converted from an early production Berge with the square opening. It was not built from one of the round opening Berge tugs but from an actual production Bergepanther. The turret was just welded onto a big steel plate to fill the opening. Would think it would have been easier to convert a damaged tank but I guess they just used what they had at hand.

Really nice progress Leon. It all looks good. I've got to admit that I am totally unfamiliar with this particular vehicle. And this is good because I enjoy discovering and learning about a new vehicle. So, it is very interesting to see what the modifications were as well as the role this vehicle filled. Thanks for building this Leon.
