cheers guys we fell in love with it 4 years ago but with a big family we wouldnt have fit . it was built in 1847 with an obvious addition, just a shame the extension wasnt done in sandstone to match the rest. Bodge its near a place called Brougham in Cumbria, the hills in the background are the penines, great when you can see them cheers Paul

Beautiful home... congrats! One thing I like about the houses in Europe... much older and far better than American houses believe me!

Paul you need to render the extension with a rough finish and then weather with a tonne of Mig pigments, that should tie it all in nicely.

Beautiful house Paul, I love those old stone houses. My house was built in 1889, but it's a 2 story frame farm house.
I see you have chickens free ranging. We had 30 chickens up until last year. They stopped laying eggs, so we put them in the freezer, Good eating they are.

Hi John i love older houses more character, a few years ago we lived at a place called Blencogo Hall that was built in 1663 not one wall was straight or square, even the floor was slanted, interesting when you have to put shelves up or cups slide of the coffee table. our hens stop laying when they are in molt but they soon start up again, but i do anjoy a bit of chicken Paul
