I love that old kit and have built it twice. Once in those markings and once in Canadian. Probably my favourite aircraft anyway. Doesn't hurt that I got an hour ride in one once!

Oh I assure you it was! In an odd twist I saw the aircraft I rode in as a gate guard at an airport in '87 or '88 and then stumbled across it again back this March at the IPMS show held at the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum. The old girl just keeps popping up in random places.

Cool the kit had Canadian decals too! Yep. Only the original '80s boxing had them.

Awesome work! I love that it's done in Ellington Field markings.

That was at CFB Ottawa South (Uplands). When the base was closed, it was donated the the CWH. I built a model of it and entered it into the Best CWH Aircraft Category at Heritagecon 5 back in 2011. Didn't win anything but I gave it to a kid who was really fawning over it. One less kit to bring home.

Nice build on a tough kit, philo. Those intake are a real PITA. Good job.

That is a good looking Voodoo! But, then again, all Voodoos look good in my opinion. They were a fast mover in their day and still look fast even sitting still! I built the two-seater, Monogram RF-101B many years ago in a "what if", pseudo-Blackbird scheme. I call her "Black Magic".

I could not remember where I had seen it but I was at Uplands in the early 90's so that was probably it.

What a good looking build - both of you gus. Those old Monogram kits will surprise you with their size. I have 2-3 in the stash. I was planning on building some of the aircraft that the KY Air National Guard flew, but.....After highschool, I worked for the FAA as summer help. That meant being a lackey and gofer. I once cleaned an entire ILS light lane with a box of rags and a couple of cans of window cleaner. Fun day. Anyway, at that time the ANG was flying the RF-101. What a show stopper when they left and returned. They had a two seater that i dreamed of getting a ride. But, alas.

The Canadian markings on the old kits are exactly the time period and squadron markings from when I was posted at the base in Comox as an aircraft refuel tech. My first day on the job there one of the maintenance guys asked me to fill a bucket with fuel. Although I thought this odd and it was totally against every reg in the book I complied (he did out rank me by a good margin). Looked over later and here he was washing down the aircraft with a mop and the bucket.

Jet fuel is mostly just kerosene with a pretty high flash point. Just don't atomize it under extreme pressure!

As a high schooler, I worked some as a line monkey at a flying service, We used to mix up something to clean the bottom of the a/c. I probably don't want to know what it was.
