So I am new to this forum and just figured out where to post this.
About a year and a half ago, I was looking at C1 models website and came across the Camaro Shooting Brake...Well, I couldn't resist it. About 3 months ago, it finally worked its way into the build queue.
This is a resin conversion kit and out of the box, it looked to be well done. Well, it is but it still needed a lot of clean up and repair.
C1 provides the body (minus the hood), Rear wind deflector, Shark Fin antenna and side and rear windows. EVERYTHING else, including the hood has to be provided via one of the AMT kits (2016 or 2017 Camaro Kits). I used the 50th Anniversary kit which is cool since it comes with an open grill. I did remove the C1 filled in body behind the grill...
The C1 body had pinholes that I drilled out and filled from behind and sanded smooth on the external side. The Panel lines on the Driver's door were so thin that they opened on the bottom of the door with the pressure of my dog farting. I took some thin glue and melted some plastic that I slathered on from the backside and sculpted to beef up the lower portion of the door...
I opted to test fit all of the body parts, including the hood and I am glad I did as the C1 body required numerous tweaks to get everything to fit correctly...
The body had numerous tabs cast in that I still cannot figure why but they were not there on the AMT and sure enough, when I test fit the chassis/interior...those annoying little tabs had to be removed from the C1 Body.
I primed and painted all of the parts (including masking the chassis for the aluminum look down the center and paint the body, hood, shark fin and rear air deflector with Splash Paints Porsche Turquoise Metallic. Splash paints are awesome and the metallic content is scaled perfectly. The wheels I de-chromed and repainted them Aluminum and applied a coat of flat clear. In my opinion, the kit supplied chrome wheels looked like they were taken off a JADA Toys "DUBS" diecast...aka, very toy like look.
While the paint cured, I started the assembly and detail...
Finally, I got the time to spray the Splash Paints 2K Clear...This stuff is amazing! The paint now looks a foot deep!
Next, I need to mask the body and spray the trim.
Stay tuned!

I’ve been watching this build… looks pretty kool. The paint is beautiful under that clear.

So after a bit of work straightening out a warped body, the chassis/interior and body are now one. There is still work to do (headlights, taillights, rear wind deflector, rear valance, spoiler and more) but for today, getting the body mounted was a major feat! Side and rear windows were mounted. Rear window required to be taped down (below) and front grill work done. Suspension sits a little taller than I wanted but after the body issues encountered, I’ll take it! Still more to do but hopefully, I’ll have this done tomorrow.
Engine bay settled into place…

Looking good so far bud. Really good. I don't know what it is about these kits but they are really hard to get lowered. I spent ALOT of time on mine to get the stance I wanted even then I had to make some last minute adjustments to get mine to look right.

I saw this last night and was going to comment on it and got tied up with our newest dog addition to the family and didn't get back to it. Overall, this build turned out very, very well. The color suits this car well and it looks like you got the stance down pat. You've done a great job with the detailing of the engine bay and interior too. The only real hang up I'm seeing is something that you are well aware of with the rear valance which is tough to get flush on the OOB body let alone a resin one.
One thing is for sure, you've definitely got an original going with this one in wagon form and one that'll be a compliment to any display case. Thank you for sharing this build with us Brian!

Thanks...even tho i test fitted the rear valance, the body warped to a degree (I'm thinking the paint caused it or it could have been my error) and all I know was it was extremely hard to to get it to fit correctly. I used white glue on it so I should be able to go back and correct it.

I've had builds that mocked up perfectly and then warped when I used lacquer based paint on it for some reason. Something tells me that you'll be able to pull that rear valance install off nicely Brian. Again, you've done a great job with whipping this one into shape and I can't wait to see what else you've got in store for us after this one brother.

That is one good looking Camaro wagon. You did a terrific job on recovering from each of the challenges you faced. It came out sharp as heck looking. Beautiful job on it.

The paint looks fantastic and I haven't seen this body style before. Its a real eye-catcher! Consider cutting a piece of clear acetate to fit the back window. Looks like it came loose on the left side.

It came out great! I am positive that I haven't seen a wagon Camaro on the road so it is making me wonder if it is only in Europe or something like that?

I have never seen this model driving around here in Europe. Became a beautiful model. Have ever built something like this just a little different than the standard Camaro.
