So this just popped up on the BBC.  Apparently the Soviet's buried them at the end of WW II

With today’s technology I’m sure that a lot of those could be built back up to at least be static displays. Very interesting about burying them to keep from having to pay the US back.

With 8 planes I'm sure they could get one museum piece. I don't get why they were buried???

From what I understand, the Soviets were supposed to reimburse the US for war materials that survived the war, so they buried them to not have to pay for them.
