Three prototypes build in 1942-43. The distinguishing feature of the Heuschrecke was its removable turret. A lifting gantry attached to the chassis could remove the turret for use on concrete fortifications or the ground.[4] Although the howitzer could equally be fired from the chassis, the vehicle was designed to carry the artillery piece to a firing emplacement for removal before use.] The turretless vehicle could be used as an ammunition carrier or recovery vehicle. The prototype turret was armed with the 105 mm leFH 18/1 L/28. The production models, however, were to have the 105 mm leFH 43 L/28. One survived and was at Aberdeen Proving Ground.

More great work! Which kit is this? I know of the subject, but really nothing about it, so your description is most helpful. Seeing the towed gun wheels stowed on the hull rear makes sense after reading all that.

You did a bang up job on it that's for sure but this is one piece of armor that I have never seen before Paul. I've gotta thank you for not only showing this but for providing some information behind this beast because at first glance, it looked like a strange tank. This is the one that was at Aberdeen and now resides at Fort Sill, Olklahoma:

Zero issues.

But nice to hear that it is a problem free build. That's always a good thing.

Not sure if it is mold swapping or "lets scan the kit and mold it". I do know that there are a few subtitle differences. I go by the Dragon ,DML, Orange Box labels. They all swap I think. Tamiya Nashorn looks 90% DML as does a lot of the Tamiya M51 super Sherman. AMT is selling as theirs Revell USA kits and Italeri Semi Truck Kits.

Great job on a really strange vehicle. Some of their ideas were hits and some were misses!
