Here is my Rye Field M-ATV. I stoped working on it before moving in Mar 22. It has a small bit of fixable damage from the move. The interior has Rye Field's radio pack but I had to scratch the seat belts becasue no one made any at the time. I have several figures for the build and wanted to do a dio for it. This is a build I'll be continuing on as soon as I can.

Wow....this thread must've zipped right by me because I never saw it till now!! This is such a superb ongoing build that I don't even know what to comment on first!! I saw this kit a couple of years ago and almost pulled the trigger on it, somehow got distracted and never made it back to it. I mean.....every where you look there is detail on top of detail with this build. Just amazing work on every single level.......details, paint, weathering and the overall look after it's all brought together. Five Star build so far Steve!!

Thanks guys, I'm really trying to one up myself here. Every part gets its own special treatment. The idea I have is that a group of Rangers are waiting for a quick repair on their M-ATV before heading back out into the field. Since I wasn't in the Army or Marines, I'm not sure how believable the scene will be, but it gives the opportunity to open all the doors, the spare tire will be swung out to allow access to the rear, which will be loaded with packs and equipment, as well as some water bottles scatter throughout the interior and rear bed. The surrounding area will have pallets, plastic barrels, K barriers and such. Again, I'm not sure how realistic the scene will be but that's what I have in mind. Some of my figures

Alot of times, reference pictures play a big part in the realism of any given build. You weren't on the Akagi either and look how that turned out. lol
You're doing great and eons ahead of me in terms of military and figure building/ painting.

Thanks Joe, I really owe all my skill to others’ patience and time passing their knowledge on. YouTube channels such as Plasmo and Night Shift have helped immensely. Imagine my joy when I try one of their techniques for my own and it works! My water for instance, is my variation of Chris Flodberg's technique. I wouldn’t have a clue if it weren’t for these fine modelers and others. My skill jumped significantly after joining FSM in 2014. I was a beginner just going into intermediate.

That's pretty much where I got alot better was after joining forums Steve. I was so-so at best. I'm a long way from fitting into any kind of "advanced" title but I'm better than what I was because of forums primarily and then videos.

Glad to see you getting back to this Steve - I was thoroughly enjoying your old build thread. Figures look great. I have the 1/16 Trumpeter kit in the stash. A gift from my son-in-law who cruised around Afghanistan in one with the 10th mountain.

WHOA! Two big thumbs up for me! I think I have the same kit too. It is going to be a great diorama at the end. I assume two of figures were from Evolution Miniatures?

Steve, it sounds like a great diorama concept for your MRAP. Speaking from personal experience, just loading up vehicles prior to a patrol was something of aa time consuming affair, depending mission specific equipment. Although the driver and maybe another crew member or two were usually doing last minute maintenance, but that all should be handled before the vehicle is dispatched from the motor pool. I might also suggest helmets instead of soft caps and tee shirts, especially in a Ranger battalion. They tend to stick to unit SOPs for clothing and equipment.

I got them off of eBay. www.ebay.com/itm/201851414905Each pack looks like it has several but it's just one guy. There are some that are two. I don't know the manufacturer, maybe private but they are excelent quality. I also get excelent figures from Aliexpress.

This is the first I have seen of this build Steve. I am hugely impressed. The detail work you have done so far is astonishing. Couple that with the incredible paint work and you have one beautifully realistic model. I cannot wait for you to get back to this and see how your diorama comes out. This really is a reflection of the remarkable modeling skills you've honed over the years. It is always true pleasure to have witnessed that transformation. You really are a top echelon modeler Steve.

Thanks Stick. The figures are actually Special Forces. We'll see how the dio goes Ok, SF is a different animal compared to Rangers. They tend to vary more from others in uniform appearance due to their mission and frequently working with indigenous troops. But then again, once they’re getting ready to head outside the wire in a MRAP on a mounted combat patrol, more protective gear such as helmets & goggles will be seen. one thing to consider though, uniforms, the MRAPs came along after the Army switch to the digital camo ACUs in 2006/2007, or the current OCP pattern ACUs. But the three color DCUs are not likely to be seen with a MRAP crew.

Google images will show one thing and call it something diffrent

Yeah, that's the kit, 5032. No appreciable interior though. Gotta do that yourself As much as they want for these kits you'd think there'd be at least a half decent interior in the box.

I finally got the bench setup and organized. I pulled out the M-ATV to access the moving damage. A wheel had broken off as well as some smaller PW pieces. It should be repaired momentarily, and I'll be back on the road...so to speak, which is good because I need to upload anothe video.

Oh no! Same thing always happen to me for EVERY build! Last week I accidentally dropped my optivisor on one of the Panther tracks breaking it in half. ARRRGGGHHH!
Hope you will be able to fix it without issues.

Thank you. It shouldn't be much of an issue. I'll drill a .3mm or so hole through the ball joint and glue a wire to strengthen the join. I'll have to do the same to the 50cal broken barrel along with reattaching small PE parts. Today was my first day to sit down and assess the condition. I have a few more tools to grab for my Thursday morning build secession...assuming my girlfriend doesn't have a honey do list. I'll also get my new Eos into it's car seat to startup taking videos for my channel.
