Monogram 1/48 Mirage 2000C

Another one of my older builds. This is Monogram’s Mirage 2000C with Exocets release. The kit had a few errors such as the undersized radome and lack of in flight refueling probe. I found an AM resin IFR probe at a local shop, and corrected the radome panel line when I described the raised detail on this build. I used Carpena decals and Xtracolor enamels for this build and did a bit of drilling and needle file work on the cannon muzzles, Exocets, and afterburner to improve those items.

That is a good looking Mirage. They are indeed a sporty looking aircraft and you did it justice.

TJ & Joe, the 2000 is indeed quite a sleek looker. And a bit beefier than its Mirage III/V family older brothers.

Andy, very much in agreement with you on not seeing enough Mirages on here, or any other forum. which is hard to believe considering their service lives, and variety of schemes worn by the different variants. That's ok though, if I live long enough to build them all, I've got at least a half dozen Mirages of different types yet to be built in my stash.

Thank you Bradley. I had bought the Xtrcolor paints specifically for this build and don't have much opportunity to use them anymore.

Definitely in agreement on the not enough Mirages comment. Syhart Decals makes just about every anniversary scheme the French did. And they look awesome

Your camo and weathering work on this kit compliment this model very well Carlos which proves it's the modeler and not the model that make any given build. Some truly good work pal.

TJ, I have the Syhart decal set for Rafales. They look really high quality. I know that they make some for Mirage IVs as well, although I am not one for most anniversary or commemorative schemes. I just prefer the look of serving line aircraft.

Joe, thank you for the kind words! I truly believe in that philosophy. A good modeler can make a rough kit look good, just as a poor modeler can fumble a Tamiya uber kit. It all starts with the basics.
