This is my completion of a kit started by a man who died before he could finish it. That was something of a habit for this guy to start a kit, get to some point, lose interest, then start another kit. He had scores of kits like this, ranging from barely started to nearly completed. This one fell into the later category, being roughly 90% complete, just needing the tracks, OVM tools, headlight lenses, and an antenna added, and some broken off grab handles replaced…. and then redoing the finish. AZ AMPS members bought up a bunch of this guys kits, and several of us finished up some of them to send them as a tribute collection at IPMS Nationals in a few weeks. I finished this Takom M3 Lee for my contribution to this task. I don’t think this one will win any prizes, but it is a great addition to my 1/35 Red Army tank fleet…

You nailed it with the subtile weathering like if it has recently arrived Russia from USA. I really like the it!

Andy and Martin, thank you. Andy, I know that most of the Lend Lease Lees had short service lives on the Eastern Front, so they didn't have time to get well worn and weathered. Martin, yes it was indeed in the USSR. But wasn't Russia one of the republics within the USSR? also, just curious, but could you translate the writing on the front portion of the tank? My Cyrillic reading skills are quite weak...

My Cyrillic reading skills are quite weak... It's like saying, " Оклахома передала России танки по ленд-лизу"Oklahoma handed over tanks to Russia under Lend-lease." He is part of the USA. A brief digression into history)) Until 1917, my country was called the Russian Empire. In 1917-1922 - the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic (RSFSR). Then the Union republics joined the RSFSR and the USSR state appeared. All international relations with other countries were only on behalf of the USSR. You will not see documents between the RSFSR and other countries anywhere))) Therefore, it is correct to speak only about the relations of the USSR and other countries. Translation of the inscription: "Under the banner of Lenin, forward to victory!"

Well some states here is the USA do think that they run the whole country 😉 But I do understand what you mean regarding the status of Russia within historical terms and as part of the USSR or other nations in the past. Thank you for the translation Martin. I truly appreciate that!

Over the years I have met many, many people from the Soviet Union but I have never once met a Russian.

TC, I've met Soviets and Russians... it all depends upon when and where. Joe, thank you for your kind feedback on this project. I can't really call it a build of m line, as the lions share of building was done by the original owner

Thank you Bob. The project was enjoyable yet somewhat morbid at the same time.
