Good LORD man!! I've been missing this too mz!! I really get a charge from watching you build these Gundam kits and paint and weather them up like you do. Some really good stuff bud.

Alright, now that the blues are done, time to get back to work! I stopped working on everything except the Duggar, I was kinda halfassing things and didn't want to screw something up. Anywaysssssssssss........ Back with the ak pencils. I also forgot I had the brushes with the rubber tips. They work great for these pencils. I trace the lines in between the armor parts, work the paint in with the rubber brushes, then go over the lines with a damp brush to clean up anything I don't like. Pretty easy and nice. I stated before it's almost impossible to get washes into those areas. This pretty much eliminates that. This weekend I'll try flat coats over these, see what happens. I've got this and the Duggar ready for a layer of flat. I also have to repaint some of the melted areas. I sanded some of the paintboff at some point.

More zaku... So this is something I've taken alot of grief on in the past. I've always felt that when weathering a kit, whether gunpla or armor or whatever, the clear parts should also be weathered. I've actually gotten into arguments about this. It doesn't look right to weather the crap out of a kit, then have a completely clean and clear window. Anyway, I used black oil to fill in the cracks. Then buff to dirty the rest. Then put the head back together and used a cotton swab to remove most for the buff paint. Looks dirty enough for this scale.

Update... I was thinking it was missing something. I stared at it for a while working on the Duggar. Then it hit me... I drybrushed all the edges very lightly with straight black oil paint. I was working black oils on the joints of the Duggar to get some more grime in them. I didn't let the oils set on cardboard for a long time, only about 20 minutes. I've found using oils like this tends to be easier for drybrushing. It's a lot easier to get more subtle coloring. But, I can't handle any of the parts for a few days. I also finished painting the missile pods... Dark iron with a drybrushing of testors steal enamel. The missiles I'm not concerned with painting the middle of them, they will be hidden inside the pods and only the tips in front and just one of the rears will be seen. I painted 2 to see which one will look better, that will be the visible one. Now I'm just waiting for the oil paint tondry.

I likes the detail! I agree that oil paint is superior for weathering for how smooth and natural it looks once dry. But waiting for it to dry really really stinks! The very subtle weathering takes this over the top. It’s gonna be a masterpiece once complete! This is my Zaku from 2018. Not even in the same realm as yours, but I was proud of the arm damage at the time:

I was watching clips of Cucuruz Doan's Island the other night and that Zaku gets it's arm sliced off. I looked over at my bench and was like......YES!!! But them I realized it probably wouldn't be a good idea on this one. So on my next Zaku the arm is getting sliced! Then I was like I still need a base idea for this. How about a knocked out Zaku with it's arm slice off...... YES!!! I just need to find another J that's not being sold for scalper prices. Might be a while. Deaf, who knows. With the way I build now, it might be another 6 months.

Always something... All the fingers just fell out. Not sure what happened. Luckily I found replacements on eBay the same night. The finger were loose after I finished building it a while back. Looks like the palm broke at some point and everything failed.

Thanks guys. Updates on this will take a break for a bit. I have no idea how long it will take to get the replacement parts. It's been 5 days and they still haven't shipped. I could get them end of this week, end of the month, end of the year. Who knows. Ebay sellers.

Alright, Zaku is about finished. Hand is repaired, painted and installed... I did not wash it or topcoat it. The parts that broke are very small and I figured it would just be better to limit the amount of chemicals on them. Pilot is painted and looking crappy... I gave him a base or flat white, the light green for the uniform, sky blue for the visor and orange on the bill of the helmet. I wanted him to be a little lighter colored so it's easier to see him in the cockpit. I just washed him, so he looks a bit crappy right now. Only thing left is weathering the axe. Everything I put on it just disappears into the black. I need to get a little more aggressive with it.

Glad to see that the hand has been repaired! The pilot looks good to me... did you have to use super microscope to paint it? LOL

Forgot, I still want to build a base for this one. I just don't want to pay reseller prices for another Zaku. I might switch to a destroyed GM unit.
