Well I knew it would come. Severe arthritis in my right pinky.
It's still usable, and should be for years, but I'm 63 and it won't be going away.
It's life, but kind of a wakeup up call. My stash is too big, I might have cull it a bit.
But I don't want to.....

I hate to hear that, I hope you are able to model for many more years without significant distress.
Every day is a blessing.

Ya that sucks. I have random joint pain that comes and goes and shows up in different places... I don't get it, but wine makes it go away lol. I resist taking any meds.

Hang in there. Just triage your kits as to which you want to build most, which ones least, and which ones might be too challenging with the arthritis situation. Ya never know what the future holds.

Just keep moving the darn thing. I'm 76 and if it doesn't hurt it must be broken!

Hang in there Mark. I echo all the input that these guys are giving and zero in on Brian's comment about every day being a blessing. We're most certainly glad that you are here and building with us today bro.

Aging sucks! I am only 53 years old and I am dealing with arthritis in several places on rainy or cold days. Aleve or Advil really helps but go easy on it. Hang in there...

Thanks for all the comments of support.
Getting old sucks, but it beats the alternative.
I can still build, but its a wake up call that I have too many kits and I want to build them all!

I'm currently on a dozen pills a day and one real mutha once a week!
It could be worse, an old workmate of mine recently had to surrender his driving license and sell his car due to age related issues. He's just had his birthday in hospital, with a badly broken hip. What's worse is that between the hip and a recent knee replacement his doctors have told him he'll have to give up skydiving. Truth be told, what with the Covid lockdown and other things he hasn't jumped in the last four years; his last time was to celebrate his hundredth birthday...
Cheers,
M

Sorry to hear that.
My knees are showing the very early signs. Not normally an issue but they very stiff in sat too long plus the odd shooting pain for no apparent reason.
Hope it stays under control.
ATB.

I'm left handed and in 1980 I had a crash drag racing in Virginia ( Cool accident! wish I had a video instead of a blurry pic) ,and did to major nerve damage to my left arm among other parts. I had a tendon transplant to give me 85% function in my hand. I can tell you on thing, don't get frustrated or think you can't build as well as you could. You just find ways to get around it. I still build 1 to 1 cars and race and my models seem to be as good or better than before.

yeah all the high speed low drag fun and adventures from our youth eventually catch up with us... Lord knows that it is with me... In the warm months, its quite tolerable, but come the cold and dampness of winter...

And for some it's the career or job that add to the problems. 30+ years of EMS has done bad things to my joints.

Thanks everyone for the encouraging words.
It's just an annoyance, I can still build.
I knew it was coming I just hoped for a few more years.
Retirement is looming, maybe then I can put a dent in my stash.
Yah.....Maybe.

yeah all the high speed low drag fun and adventures from our youth eventually catch up with us... Lord knows that it is with me... In the warm months, its quite tolerable, but come the cold and dampness of winter... I've been drag racing since 1969, or 1962 as a flashlight holder for my dad. Had funny cars,an Econo rail, a pair of super stock Challengers and a quite few other race cars. Still racing my 55 chevy I bought from my dad in 1968, finishing a 1972 Pinto nostalgia funny car and starting a 1964 Dodge A/fX car. I'm 70 and last month ran high 8 seconds @ 161mph with my old chevy which is a bit over 1 second slower and 40 mph slower than I ran in 1972 in my funny car. Now when I get out with a cane I do get a few odd looks
Point of this is age and disability will slow you but no reason to stop doing anything you want to abet slower and longer. Keep what you want and do what you like and let whom ever is after you worry about it all
The true purpose is not to arrive in front of St Peter in a pristine body, but worn out and say "holy crap what a ride!!"

Well between a career of doing this and many years of another of doing this I've had my fair share of near misses of ending up before St Peter in less than pristine condition and much younger than intend to be before I do finally report in to him. I would like to enjoy my remaining years in a less hazardous manner... but maybe with one more jump for old times sake...

I had this happen last year. Blacked out behind the wheel, doctors unsure of why, hit the concrete barrier/steel fence in my mail truck. GPS said I was doing 39 when I hit. Luckily no permanent damages. But broken nose, 20 something stitches in my face. And 7 broken ribs You never know....

On cold days my joints get stiff. Makes detail work a pain in the Fall/Winter months. However, you have many more productive years ahead of you.
