Like many, I built quite a few Monogram kits back in the day. They are some of my favorite even to this day. As some know, I decided to relive some of my younger years and only build Monogram era kits this year. This is one of those... and happens to be a comparison to one I have left from back in the day. Paint is Tamiya Ts50 Mica Blue. A tad darker than whatever I used 30 years back, but close... happy to say, at least my spray skills have improved... To left we have the 30 years old SuperBee and to the right, the one finished today...
now solo...
As always, thanks for looking... on to the next...

Man they are both really nice. Paint looks deeper and shinier on todays build for sure.

First off, both are superb builds relative to building skills at the times that they were built. As keavdog stated, the paint depth and shine are much more apparent on the current build as well as the crispness of the whole build. That's not to take away from the older one though. The fact that you still have it is a great thing. I've done this a few times with some of my originals and can attest to the fact that doing these revamps are indeed fun.

Nice work! I remember seeing that Super Bee logo on the real ones long ago!

Sweet! I can see the differences between those two especially the engines. Thanks for sharing!

I love this! Anything I built 30 years ago would be a far cry from what you achieved back then, and the present looks even more stunning

Stunning paint job on that Dodge! Both of them. What's your process if you don't mind me asking?

Stunning paint job on that Dodge! Both of them. What's your process if you don't mind me asking? Process? Hmmm... Mostly luck with a dash of let's see if this works...
I mist on the 1st coat kinda quick passes. 2nd is slower and slightly heavier mist. 3rd slower slightly heavier mist... IF there's complete coverage the 4th is slow and wet.
Sometimes I'm guilty of spraying the clear about an hour later. I do it the same way.
I paint outside like a lot of others... but I don't know if you know anything about Tennessee, but painting weather is a tricky timeframe... so like I said, luck and a dash of let's see.

Both are stunning builds but, yes, your second effort shows your advanced skills. Great stuff. thanks for sharing your journey with us.
