Your interior looks pretty dang snazzy there eagle. You're right about the level of detail in this kit and it's something that Revell finally caught on to a few years ago starting with the Foose FD-100 pick up or around that time frame. I address those grossly large turn signal levers by cutting them completely off of the column and starting over with it by using a needle cut to the "correct" (or so) length. I'll put a dab of Molotow chrome on the end to replicate the swelled end of the lever. In this case it was black but you get the picture:

Thanks guys!
406 Silverado, thanks for the suggestion on the turn signal lever. I still have the steering column all by itself, so it would actually be really easy for me to correct that at this point. I might use some of the Lion Roar copper beams that I have on hand to make a normal-sized lever. I'll probably try tinning the whole thing with some 63/37 solder which makes nice, bright and shiny solder joints.

Thanks everybody! Maverick, that steering wheel type wouldn't have been possible if it weren't for the Silhouette Portrait 3 that I just got up and running again, along with the Tamiya masking sticker sheet that I ran through it. A couple of 14mm circles, and I ended up with a pretty much centered demarcation between the two colors. Had to quarter the mask for the back of the steering wheel to get around the spokes. Got all of the chassis parts finally ready for paint...after 3 different shots of primer. Kept finding parting lines and pin marks that I hadn't seen before that needed to be removed. Each shot of primer revealed more stuff I had missed. Nice Maverick in your avatar. BTW. What year is that one? My first car was a 72 Comet with a 302.

I know what you mean about the paint jobs, but I'm going to be using MCW enamels for the body, and those seem to be incredibly forgiving. Did some test shots on spoons with the Acapulco Blue I'm going to be using and the stuff self-levels so well that its practically a 2K level of gloss. I even ended up with a couple of ridges and runs here and there...and those also leveled out on their own. The only thing I'm worried about is getting a good match of silver for the silver stripe option decals I'll be using. Hopefully using the Revell enamel color called out for the other silver items is going to be the ticket. The US version of the kit only has body paint colors for the white/black option. Test shot on a spoon looks pretty close.

Looking forward to seeing the color coats go down on this car.

I hear you on MCW, Joe. I do use it a lot. But... I also Scale Finishes a lot too. But...then again... I use Automotive touch up paint, Kylon Fusion, Duplicolor, House of color, and a whole bunch of other paint that I can't remember right at this moment. I'll say this though...the one primer that has worked under all those paints is the ALCLAD GREY AND WHITE primer. That stuff is GREAT. I've used a lot of different primers...some worked pretty well and some not so well. The ALCLAD primer has been spot on for at least the last 6-7 yrs.

Tamiya primer here too. I decant a can of it into a 4 ounce mason jar, and thin it with MEK for airbrushing.

Tamiya primer here too. I decant a can of it into a 4 ounce mason jar, and thin it with MEK for airbrushing. I also use Tamiya paint decanted. I tried their primer and it works ok. But ALCLAD just blew me away with the smoothness and protection that it leaves. And that's from 1/43 to at least 1/16th. Haven't tried it on a 1/12 scale build yet. GREAT stuff for sure...
But...I never use MEK for thinner. I use store bought (Lowes, Home Depot) Lacquer thinner for thinning paint. I have a gallon of MEK that I bought from Lowes about 15 yrs ago. I refill my TESTORS Square bottle (that I got 20 yrs ago) and it never runs out. That gallon of MEK will last me (and 5 other people) a life time. Plastruct Plastic weld is MEK also. Tamiya EXTRA Thin does not have MEK. It contains ACETONE and BUTYL ACETATE....which to me...don't work as quick as MEK. But...as it is said...to each their own, and if it's working for YOU....don't change it. LOL

I'll have to try MEK as a cement once I run out of the Tamiya Extra Thin. Acetone is a great solvent for a cement, but a big issue with it is that it evaporates too quickly. Maybe MEK will allow more working time.

Be very careful when using Methyl Ethyl Ketone. The stuff will blind you if you get it in your eye...Hell the fumes in a high enough concentration can damage your eyesight if not blind you...Also..It is EXTREMELY flammable. I mean it will light off at the drop of a hat. Well ventilated area is a HUGE must with that stuff. Personally, I would use a plastic weld cement instead...MEK is nasty and dangerous...
