Thanks all. It's a big box but it's full, it's a big vehicle.

That is too cool! I remember one of the guys in my old AMPS chapter built one, and it really is an impressive subject when built!

I have that kit too, so I'll be watching with interest!
I added a counterweight to the breeches of my model for some reason - I'll have a look at the mod and see if it will be useful for your build.

I built this kit years ago, it's awesome!
If you want to make it look really good, look into single link metal aftermarket tracks!

Just seeing the contents of the box is impressive enough. I can't wait till you start on this big boy of a kit Bill.

Hi all. We're off. Those who are familiar with Bandai Gundam kits will know that are largely snap together, I tend to glue mine afterwards. Hull went together fine but the right side was a really tight fit. If you do build this kit, shave the locating pins off part F6 and simply glue in place, makes fitting the sides far less stressful.

Chaps. Upper hull is largely complete now, no issues to speak of. Tow cable will be added later along with clear parts. Upper and lower hull are joined by poly caps, handy to split it and paint in sections. And for fun, a progress shot next to Tamiya's 1/35 Hummel. Back soon.

The hull looks good! Man that thing is pretty good sized. The Hummel is not a small SP, amd this thing looks about 40% larger in just the hull.

Mence, Huh, I guess the Hummel is a large vehicle. The Sherman looks puny by comparison: BTW, this is the mod I did to my kit: I found the barrels tended to sit a tiny bit skewed, and they looked like they would need "Tank Viagra" in the future. So I added dummy breeches, secured them with cross bracing, and weighted the whole kabosh so the gun assembly balanced on the pivot point.

There are some Chinese metal tack links on Ebay but they aren't cheap! I did find a set on Aliexpress for around $45. Hopefully they are of good quality and arrive within a couple of weeks.

Good move adding weight to the turret so it will not be an issue in long run!!! Now you have to place one of those tiny tanks such as Panzer I or M3 Stuart next to it too...

And that’s a Sherman Jumbo, just a bit bigger and bulkier than the average 75mm gunned Sherman.

My barrels do the same but I will be opting for the less skilled brute force and superglue approach.

An alternative treatment for Tank ED is to do something like this: I used an aftermarket polycap from Wave, a "T" section of sprue, and some plastic tubing. It works great, and my JS-3 has had no "bedroom issues" since!
