That’s a beautiful build there Andy. I really like how you did the invasion stripes partially over the upper wing roundels, but skipped the ailerons. Is the dog from the ICM RAF Ground Crew & Pilots set? Have you tried using your iPhone editing software? It can make a world of difference, as can adjusting your exposure before you take the photo.

White backgrounds are tough on cameras with automatic exposure control. It happens on a $3500 DSLR too. What happens is the camera (phone) sees all that white and thinks it's neutral grey (the reason this happens is only worth typing if you really want to know), but because of that it'll automatically underexpose anything with a lot of white in frame. Practically any other color background will photograph much easier if you're just letting the camera/phone set exposure.
That aside, it's great to see you finish something. Especially if it's truly been that long. I know what it's like to not get anything done for a time. I'd been on a bitnof a break for a while myself. And you should definitely do more airplanes.

I'm not as good with a camera as I'd like to be but this is some good points to take for me in regard to white backgrounds.......which is what I do primarily. I've heard of blue or even black for lighter colored subjects. I will say that I did NOT know that you built aircraft as well and I think you've been holding out on us there Andy. I'll be watchin' for another aviation subject outta you. I like what you've done with this Spitfire ...............A LOT!!

Thanks Carlos for the nice words! I had to made sure it was not an error but Eduard had that way skipping the ailerons. I wish I had that dog from ICM kit because the dog looks more excited than the one I was given by a friend at the club. I believe it came from an older kit that had a female figure in civilian outfit too. Not bad idea looking into my iPhone editing software one day... thanks again! White backgrounds are tough on cameras with automatic exposure control. It happens on a $3500 DSLR too. Appreciate your tip about taking picture! I have so much to learn. It was hard to believe that it has been five years since I finished something. I started 6 or 7 kits but I just couldn't finish them so I am hoping that I can finish few of them next. I am itchin' to build that old Tamiya Brewster B-339 Buffalo next because I grew up in Buffalo... I'm not as good with a camera as I'd like to be but this is some good points to take for me in regard to white backgrounds.......which is what I do primarily. LOL I am glad that you liked it a lot! Thanks man! I have built few rotary kits so they can be counted as aviation subject too? Right now I think I like to build just anything that interests me and I think those group builds is going to help me keep my mojo going.

I've decided that you should build more aircraft! this turned out wonderfully. I haven't grabbed any of the Quinta 3d items yet although they look awesome. Was the fitment of the IP panels good or did you wrestle with it

Andy, that is one remarkably fantastic Spitfire. Regardless of the timeframe, you have not lost your touch. Superb paint and weathering. You made the most with all of the AM detail. Your resurgence was splendid. I van totally emphasize with absence of a completed model. It has been 7 yrs and counting for me. Yet, getting involved here on MSC and participating in the Panther GB has been key to pushing me near the finish line. I find it ironic that for me as an aircraft modeler it has been 27 or so since I built an armor kit and yet, here I am building one for a resurgence.

Very nice, Andy. I love these aircraft and you did yours justice. Great interior detail and I dig the well worn look! Thanks buddy! Being an armor builder I really like my planes weary and dirty... Excellent! Who doesn't love a Spit after all? Great job on this one. Thanks Kyle! That was for my local club group build and it looks like they want to do those twice a year or so. I think it is going to keep my mojo going. I've decided that you should build more aircraft! this turned out wonderfully. I haven't grabbed any of the Quinta 3d items yet although they look awesome. Was the fitment of the IP panels good or did you wrestle with it I definitely will build more wingy kits. I can assure you that I have more than 25-30 of those in my stash. I think you will like those Qunita sets because it was so easy to cut, adjust if needed and glue on! I am positive that I want those 3D printed cockpits for all of my wingy builds from now on. Wow that is some fantastically detailed work, the pit looks great,as does the paint and weathering. You handled the stripes nicely, painted or decals, really can't tell. Thanks Tony! I am glad you liked it too. Those decals were the new film decal type from Eduard. At first I wasn't sure if I liked them but now I really do!!! It was a nerve wreck experience to remove the film cover off the decals eventually. Excellent work in all respects. Hmmm. Maybe you should continue building wingy things I definitely will!!!! I hope to start Tamiya 1/48 Brewster Buffalo fighter soon. Thanks TJ!!! Andy, that is one remarkably fantastic Spitfire. Regardless of the timeframe, you have not lost your touch. I am definitely with you regarding being involved with group builds and I totally forgot how much it has really helped me to keep my mojo going. I have signed up to part three GBs this year, I have finished one already and I think I can finish last two in time. Fingers crossed! Very glad that you really liked the Spitfire... really appreciate your nice words! Thanks Joe! Andy That's turned out very nicely indeed! A really top finish indeed! Andrew Coming from one of my favorite British modelers, it means a lot to me! Thanks Andrew! Thanks my favorite Russian buddy!

Andy That's turned out very nicely indeed! A really top finish indeed! Andrew Coming from one of my favorite British modelers, it means a lot to me! Thanks Andrew! You're more than welcome Andy!! And from an ego perspective, I will assume the list of British modellers you know is VERY short! Seriously though great work. Makes me want to get one of mine out but it will have to wait! ATB Andrew

Andrew Thanks again! Just please don't make us wait too long. LOL This is the one you had at the show isn't it? It sure is one fine build Andy! Yep, I made some changes and removed excessive weathering on the wings. Glad you got to see it in person. Hope to see you at one of those club meetings! We are having club building event this Saturday from 9am to 2pm at deaf club near Indiana State Fairground in case you are interested. Excellent wingy dingy, Andy! Thanks man!!! Really appreciate it.

Thanks my brother!!! I had so much fun building my first wingy kit in 35+ years and I will not hesitate to build another one soon. It really felt great to finish something finally after 5-6 years of struggle. I think signing up for Group Builds will help me stay motivated and on schedule to finish a kit.

Very nice Andy, glad you're finding your way back in to the hobby Thanks mate! Me too! It really feels good to be back finally. I have started 7 or 8 kits but I couldn't just finish them for last five years. I hope to finish 2 more kits before end of the year... maybe three!!!
